Job Description
At Nearmap, we don’t just map the world — we help our teams move fast, stay connected, and do their best work. To keep that engine running, we’re looking for a curious, hands-on Junior Systems Administrator to join our IT team.
This is a great opportunity for someone early in their sysadmin career to get broad exposure across a modern tech stack — from cloud infrastructure and endpoint management to identity and access platforms — all within a fast-moving, global tech company.
🔹 What you’ll be doing You’ll be the person our Nearmap employees rely on to keep things running smoothly. That means managing and administering internal systems (think AD, Office 365, Okta, Jira), supporting hardware and software across the Sydney office, provisioning equipment and accounts for new starters, and helping drive best-practice security aligned to the NIST framework. You’ll also get involved in researching new solutions and contributing to IT projects alongside senior team members.
Qualifications
What we’re looking for
- 1+ years of systems administration experience
- Comfortable across Linux, Windows, macOS, Android and iOS
- Exposure to scripting (Bash, PowerShell) and cloud infrastructure (AWS)
- Hands-on experience with Office 365, Active Directory and Group Policy
- Networking and firewall fundamentals
- Strong communicator — you’re just as comfortable helping a non-technical colleague as you are writing solid technical documentation
- A proactive, positive attitude and the ability to juggle competing priorities
A tertiary or industry-level IT qualification is a plus, but we’re really hiring for mindset and aptitude.
This role is open to Australian citizens and permanent residents, or those with full working rights in Australia.
