Job Description
What does it feel like to be a Local System Administrator in Netcompany?
By joining us as a Local System Administrator, you will ensure the reliable deployment, configuration, and maintenance of Linux and Windows systems, supporting the DG’s local IT infrastructure and working closely with the IT team to maintain secure and efficient operations.
As a Local System Administrator you will:
- Install, configure, and maintain Linux and Windows servers and workstations within the local environment
- Manage system updates, patching, and security upgrades
- Implement and maintain security measures in line with defined security baselines
- Perform system backups and recovery to ensure data integrity and availability
- Monitor system performance and maintain network services (file servers, DHCP, DNS, proxies, etc.)
- Troubleshoot incidents and respond promptly to system-related issues
- Document system configurations and operational procedures
- Automate administrative tasks through scripting and support integration of local systems
Qualifications
What would make you a fit for the role:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Computer Science, IT, or a related field
- At least 3 years of experience as a Linux and Windows System Administrator
- Strong hands-on experience with Linux distributions (e.g., RedHat, Ubuntu, Debian) and Windows Server environments
- Experience with virtualization technologies such as VMware or Proxmox
- Familiarity with container technologies (Docker, Podman) and basic orchestration concepts
- Solid understanding of networking principles and protocols (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP)
- Good knowledge of security principles and practices, including firewalls, encryption, and threat detection/prevention systems
- Experience with automation and scripting (Ansible, Puppet, Bash, Python, PowerShell) and version control systems such as Git
- Strong verbal and written communication skills in English; knowledge of French is an advantage
