About Oso

We founded Oso in 2018 to provide an authorization platform and Authorization as a Service for developers. We help engineering teams integrate access control into their applications and manage AI agents.

Oso Cloud offers a managed service with tools for modeling authorization and adding roles, sharing, and fine-grained access. It supports RBAC, ReBAC, and ABAC, using our Polar DSL for permissions and providing SDKs. Built in Rust, this service handles over 1M requests/sec with less than 10ms p90 latency, ensuring scalability.

Oso for Agents secures AI agents by giving users visibility, controls, alerts, and auditing. It lets you monitor agent activity, set boundaries to prevent sensitive data leaks or infrastructure modification, alert on policy violations or abnormal behavior, and keep immutable audit trails. The platform also includes simulations to test agent behavior and applies the principle of least privilege for tool calls.

We have raised $25M with support from Sequoia and Felicis. Companies like Verizon, Intercom, Wayfair, Duolingo, and Productboard use Oso.

Mission & Values

Our mission is to change how developers build software. We empower developers with security tools, so they can focus on building products instead of managing access controls for humans and AI.

We operate based on four core expectations:

  • Ambition: We strive for significant goals, believe in hard work, and aim for high-level execution.
  • Ownership: We foster a broad view of our roles and take accountability for results.
  • Resilience: We emphasize the ability to manage discomfort and confront challenges.
  • Desire to Grow: We encourage self-reflection, coachability, and transparency.

Team & Culture

Our team is distributed, with our headquarters in New York City. We have regular hybrid days for local team members. Long-term, we aim for about half our team to be remote and half in New York City.

Our culture is built around the four expectations: Ambition, Ownership, Resilience, and Desire to Grow. We value feedback, offering various ways for employees to voice concerns. This includes regular team check-ins, bi-weekly retros, and 1-on-1s with co-founders.

We focus on setting and achieving significant goals, not on “time spent in seat.” We promote work-life balance through flexible hours and unlimited PTO. We prioritize building a diverse talent pool, setting compensation based on expected contribution, and optimizing for long-term employee growth.

Benefits & Perks

We offer competitive health, dental, and vision coverage, along with mental healthcare for you and your family. You’ll also receive unlimited access to financial advisors and an equity package.

We provide unlimited paid time off (PTO), paid parental leave, and flexible work options.

Additional perks include:

  • Concierge healthcare services
  • Quarterly hackathons with prizes
  • Free team lunches every month
  • Office amenities like keyboards and cold brew
