Job Description

PandaDoc is seeking a Staff Frontend Engineer to join our Application Platform track, specifically in the Surfaces (Core UX) area — a team dedicated to building and evolving the core frontend infrastructure and user experience foundations that power the PandaDoc application.

We’re looking for a technical leader who is passionate about modern frontend architectures, platform-level engineering, and enabling dozens of product teams to build faster, safer, and more maintainable applications. You will drive the evolution of our frontend platform through new frameworks, microfrontend architecture, performance tooling, and best-in-class engineering practices.

About Surfaces (Core UX)

Surfaces is the foundational team for PandaDoc’s frontend experience. We focus on:

  • Building and evolving frontend platform frameworks, tooling, and architectural foundations
  • Decomposing legacy monolithic UI codebases into modular, scalable, microfrontend-based architecture
  • Defining and rolling out cross-company engineering practices, guidelines, and standards
  • Providing platform components, primitives, and libraries that empower 35+ product teams
  • Driving improvements in DevExp, performance, stability, testing, and maintainability
  • Leading modernization initiatives across the frontend ecosystem (bundling, runtime integration, shared infra)

In this role, you will

  • Define and drive long-term strategy for PandaDoc’s frontend platform architecture, modularization, and microfrontend adoption
  • Lead the design and rollout of Application Platform frameworks that standardize how product teams build, integrate, and ship frontend features
  • Decompose legacy frontend monoliths and guide migrations toward highly decoupled, scalable architectures
  • Introduce and champion platform-level engineering practices, standards, and patterns across the entire organization
  • Design tooling and infrastructure that improve developer experience and delivery throughput (bundling, build pipelines, performance monitoring, shared runtime modules)
  • Collaborate with Product, Platform, and Infrastructure teams to ensure a consistent, reliable, and high-performing application architecture
  • Mentor engineers in architectural thinking, platform engineering, testing strategies, and performance optimization
  • Identify and solve complex challenges related to scale, performance, modularity, and cross-application integration
  • Partner closely with Design Systems, Backend Platform, and DevOps to align on shared foundations and platform evolution

About you

  • 8+ years of frontend engineering experience, including 2+ years in a Staff or Principal role
  • Deep expertise in React, TypeScript, build systems, and browser/runtime architectures
  • Strong knowledge of microfrontends, modularization patterns, and large-scale architectural design
  • Experience designing or implementing frontend platform frameworks used across multiple teams
  • Proven success leading cross-organizational engineering initiatives involving multiple stakeholders
  • Strong understanding of DevEx tooling, build pipelines, performance instrumentation, and testing
  • Passion for scalable, maintainable architectures and well-designed platform APIs
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to influence and align teams in ambiguous environments
