About the Role

Our client is seeking an Email Marketing Specialist to build, launch, and optimize high-performing email campaigns that drive engagement, nurture leads, and generate measurable business results.

This role combines creative copywriting, audience segmentation, automation strategy, and technical ESP management. The Email Marketing Specialist owns the full email campaign lifecycle — from campaign planning and workflow automation to deliverability optimization and performance reporting.

The ideal candidate is analytical, detail-oriented, and comfortable balancing creative messaging with performance-driven optimization.

Responsibilities

Campaign Development & Execution

• Write compelling subject lines, email copy, and calls-to-action tailored to audience segments

• Design and optimize responsive email templates aligned with brand guidelines

• Perform light HTML/CSS edits when necessary to improve formatting and rendering

Audience Segmentation & List Management

• Maintain and organize email databases ranging from 20k–200k+ contacts

• Segment audiences by lifecycle stage, engagement level, persona, geography, and behavioral data

• Clean and maintain healthy email lists by removing inactive users, hard bounces, spam traps, and duplicates

• Improve personalization strategies to increase engagement and conversion performance

Automation & Nurture Workflows

• Build and maintain drip campaigns, nurture sequences, abandoned cart flows, onboarding workflows, and behavioral automations

• Test workflow logic and trigger conditions to ensure campaigns function correctly

• Continuously optimize automation flows to improve conversion rates and engagement

Deliverability & Compliance

• Monitor sender reputation, inbox placement, and overall deliverability performance

• Manage SPF, DKIM, DNS, suppression lists, and email authentication configurations

• Ensure campaigns remain compliant with CAN-SPAM, GDPR, CCPA, and email marketing best practices

• Troubleshoot deliverability issues using tools such as Litmus, GlockApps, or Postmark

Performance Optimization & Reporting

• Conduct A/B testing on subject lines, CTAs, send times, layouts, and messaging

• Analyze campaign performance metrics including open rates, CTR, conversion rates, bounce rates, and unsubscribe rates

• Build dashboards and reports using Google Analytics, CRM platforms, Looker, or ESP analytics tools

• Present findings, recommendations, and optimization strategies to leadership and stakeholders

What Makes You a Perfect Fit

• Strong balance between creative marketing and analytical thinking

• Excellent copywriting and communication skills with attention to detail

• Technically capable of managing ESP configurations and deliverability troubleshooting

• Organized and able to manage multiple campaigns, automations, and reporting cycles simultaneously

• Data-driven mindset focused on continuous optimization and measurable results

Required Experience & Skills

• 2+ years of professional email marketing experience

• Hands-on experience with at least one major ESP (HubSpot, Klaviyo, Marketo, Mailchimp, ActiveCampaign)

• Strong understanding of audience segmentation and email automation workflows

• Advanced Excel/Google Sheets skills (pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, reporting, segmentation)

• Basic HTML/CSS knowledge for email template customization

• Experience tracking and analyzing email campaign performance metrics

Preferred Experience & Skills

• Experience managing email programs for 50k+ contacts

• Familiarity with deliverability and inbox placement tools (Litmus, GlockApps, Postmark)

• Experience integrating ESPs with CRM systems such as Salesforce or HubSpot

• Background in SaaS, e-commerce, or professional services industries

• Understanding of lifecycle marketing and behavioral email strategies
