About Pocket Gems

We develop mobile games and interactive entertainment. We started in 2009 in an apartment, creating games and entertainment experiences that set new standards in their genres. We’ve received $155 million in backing from Sequoia Capital and Tencent.

Our products include Episode, a mobile storytelling network and platform, and War Dragons, a 3D real-time strategy game. Our products have been downloaded over 500 million times and brought in over $1 billion in revenue. We distribute over 1.7 petabytes of content each month.

We use cross-platform technology that compiles native iOS applications for Android with minimal code changes and no performance loss. For War Dragons, we use our proprietary Mantis Engine, featuring image-based lighting and GPU-based particles. We also developed Episode Studio, a platform for creating interactive mobile stories that supports billions of Episode views for millions of viewers. We were an early adopter of Google App Engine and work with Google’s cloud team on their Cloud Advisory Board.
