About the Steven & Alexandra Cohen Foundation

The Steven & Alexandra Cohen Foundation is committed to inspiring philanthropy and community service – with a special interest in children’s health, adolescent mental health, women’s health, brain health, education, veterans, psychedelics research, Lyme and tickborne disease, workforce development, hunger relief and the arts – by creating awareness, offering guidance and leading by example to show the world what giving can do.

Cohen Philanthropies, which includes the Steven & Alexandra Cohen Foundation, AMC Innovative Health Foundation, and the Amazin’ Mets Foundation share leadership and often collaborate with Point72’s Community Matters team on initiatives to strengthen their collective efforts. This exciting opportunity offers you the ability to work within a highly collaborative team across multiple organizations, where no two days are the same.

What you’ll do

As a program officer, you will oversee critical aspects of the Foundation’s grantmaking portfolio under the direction of the Chief Program Officer, Executive Director, and Foundation’s President, Alexandra Cohen. Specifically, you will:

  • Oversee a portfolio of grants within the areas of health research and innovation, human services, hunger relief, and workforce development.
  • Manage clear and consistent communication, site visits, and engage with potential and existing grantees.
  • Manage the proposal review process for each portfolio, including identifying and inviting applicants, coordinating proposal submission, due diligence and evaluating proposals, and reviewing proposals with foundation leadership for grant decisions.
  • Manage the grant lifecycle process for each portfolio, including executing grant legal agreements, facilitating report submissions, evaluating grant deliverables, and closing grants.
  • Identify and cultivate relationships with current and potential partner organizations and grantees to drive programming that contributes to the Foundation’s goals and objectives.
  • Represent the Foundation externally among community partners, grantees, and other critical stakeholder audiences.
  • Support the strategy, development, and execution for each portfolio, researching and understanding the landscape of stakeholders (e.g., potential grantees, governmental programs, beneficiaries, and communities) and intervention approaches within each portfolio.
  • Support the data processing of proposals and grants through the Foundation’s grant management software (e.g., Salesforce).
  • Conduct financial and programmatic analysis of grantee reports and synthesize across the portfolio (e.g., data entry, analysis, visualizations)
  • Respond and triage questions related to the grant management portal including questions associated with registration and application submission.
  • Assist with data gathering and analysis from external sources (e.g., government statistics)
  • Assist with events and special projects as needed.

What’s required

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • 2-4 years of experience in grantmaking operations, organizational evaluation, or a related field.
  • Strong technical and software skills including Microsoft Excel and Word, with the ability to create and design impactful PowerPoint presentations.
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to meet deadlines and manage multiple priorities.
  • Superb relationship building and interpersonal skills.
  • Self-motivated and self-reliant with a hands-on approach.
  • Flexibility to attend occasional evening events and travel to offsite events and grantee site visits.
  • Ability to work primarily from our Stamford, CT office under a hybrid model (one remote day per week)
  • Commitment to the highest ethical standards.
