Job Description
The Team
SEEK’s Cyber Security team covers a wide range of security disciplines and responsibilities. While we have specialised sub-teams, we deliberately encourage cross-functional expertise development - you’ll have opportunities to grow beyond your core focus areas.
The team has executive backing and real influence over security decisions. You’ll be empowered to identify control gaps or risks and work toward effective mitigations that protect both our infrastructure and the millions of people who use our products
The Role
We’re looking for a security engineer with identity expertise to help protect and scale our corporate identity platforms. You’ll be working hands-on with systems like Okta, building automation where it makes sense, and implementing security controls that address real threats. This role involves balancing security best practices with business needs while providing practical guidance to stakeholders.
- Support uplift activities across identity platforms like Okta to stay ahead of evolving threats
- Partner with stakeholders to ensure secure implementation of Active Directory, Windows, Mac, Microsoft 365, and other corporate infrastructure
- Configure and troubleshoot SAML, OIDC, and SCIM integrations for new applications
- Deploy and support security infrastructure tooling and capabilities
- Implement and improve monitoring and alerting to proactively identify threats within the corporate environmen
- Develop and maintain documented procedures, runbooks, and security guidelines
- Translate technical risks into business context - communicate security risks and compliance gaps clearly to various stakeholders
- Support infrastructure and project risk evaluation, remediation planning, and process improvements alongside technical and business teams
- Stay current with best practices and regulations, designing security controls that protect against emerging threats
- Help build a security-aware culture where trust and privacy are embedded in how we work
Qualifications
Skills and Experience
We’re looking for practical experience securing and managing identity platforms at scale. This might come from a security engineering background, systems/platform engineering with a security focus, or similar hands-on roles. You should be comfortable working independently on identity and authentication challenges. If you’ve got that foundation but don’t tick every box below, we encourage you to apply.
Technical Skills - What you’ll use daily
- Hands-on experience with enterprise identity platforms (Okta, Azure AD/Entra ID, or similar)
- Working knowledge of authentication protocols (SAML, OAuth, OIDC, Kerberos, NTLM) and how to troubleshoot them
- Microsoft ecosystem experience - Active Directory, Microsoft 365, Azure services
- AWS experience - comfortable working with IAM roles and policies and navigating core AWS services (EC2, S3, RDS, Lambda, etc.)
- Scripting ability (PowerShell, Python, or similar) - we care more about automation mindset than specific languages
- Experience debugging authentication issues using logs, traces, network diagnostics, and understanding of underlying protocols (DNS, TLS, TCP/IP)
- Understanding of identity lifecycle management and access control patterns
Security Mindset - How you’ll think
- Ability to identify security risks in identity configurations and recommend practical fixes
- Understanding of common identity attacks and how to defend against them
- Experience applying security controls that balance risk with usability
- Knowledge of privileged access management and least privilege principle

- Comfortable managing multiple priorities in a small team environment

- Pragmatic security mindset - comfortable making risk-based decisions and balancing security controls with business velocity
Nice to have but not essential
- SIEM/SOAR experience (Splunk, CrowdStrike)
- Security certifications (Okta, Microsoft, CISSP, etc.)
- Experience supporting Mac/Linux alongside Windows
- Active in security community (BSides, security research)
