A physics-driven AI system for autonomous PCB layout design, automating electronics hardware development.

About Quilter

We develop a physics-driven AI system for autonomous Printed Circuit Board (PCB) design. Our goal is to eliminate the manual layout bottleneck in electronics hardware development. Our core product is an autonomous PCB design engine. This AI system is trained on natural law and manufacturing constraints, not human examples or shortcuts. It allows engineers to generate complete, production-ready board layouts in minutes, a process that usually takes weeks.

Our platform supports parallel design, letting teams generate many layouts simultaneously. We include continuous verification with built-in physics checks for things like DDR length matching, impedance control, and clearances during the design phase. The system works with existing CAD tools like Altium, Cadence, Siemens, and KiCAD. It accepts projects from these tools and returns files in the same format for final review and manufacturing. We provide solutions for demanding programs in Aerospace & Defense, Semiconductor, and Consumer Electronics industries. This helps companies shorten design cycles and speed up product development.

Our pricing scales by pin count. This lets entire organizations try out designs freely and only pay for layouts they approve.

Mission & Values

Our mission is to eliminate the PCB layout bottleneck in hardware innovation. We want engineers to focus on architecture and invention, not manual trace routing. We aim to make PCB design instant, infinite, and autonomous. This enables a new approach to hardware development where boards can be as iterative as software builds.

Our core values are:

  • Physics-first
  • Ownership
  • Learn-by-iteration

We use first-principles engineering and aim for high quality. We believe engineers should spend their time inventing.

Team & Culture

We are a remote-first company, with regular team gatherings in Los Angeles. Our team has between 11 and 50 employees. Our engineers and researchers come from places like SpaceX, Apple, NASA, Johns Hopkins APL, and MIT, along with EDA builders from Cadence and Synopsys.

Our culture values first-principles engineering and high standards. We believe in respect for designers. The work is demanding, requiring intensity, rigor, and persistence, but it offers rapid growth and significant impact. When we hire, we focus on a clear process, honest feedback, and quick decisions. We promote a high-ownership environment where engineers can influence product direction, architecture, and team culture. Technical career paths allow growth to Principal Engineer without needing to move into management. Staff engineers drive technology strategy while staying hands-on.

Benefits & Perks

We offer health, dental, and vision insurance. Employees get unlimited paid time off, and we encourage its use. We also provide paid parental leave, a competitive salary, and equity. Our team has regular gatherings in Los Angeles.
