The Position
We are seeking an experienced Assistant Accountant to join our small and vibrant team. Our office is conveniently located in Minto, NSW, just a short drive from Liverpool and Campbelltown, within close proximity to the M5 Motorway.
To be considered for this role you will have worked as an Assistant Accountant for at least 3 years and possess a tertiary qualification. The successful candidate will possess extensive knowledge of accounting standards and taxation law. Having confidence in your abilities, you will be meticulous, self-motivating, organised and have outstanding communication skills.
Role responsibilities
- Preparing general purpose financial statements;
- Preparing the monthly financial management accounts and reports;
- Maintaining and updating fixed asset register;
- Recording asset additions, disposals, and transfers;
- Calculating and posting depreciation;
- Ensuring proper capitalisation vs. expensing of costs;
- Preparing fixed asset schedules for management reporting and audits;
- Supervising and maintenance of company general ledgers, banking and cashflow;
- Prepare and lodge BAS, payroll tax and fuel tax
- Maintaining and developing company accounting policies and procedures and administering approved accounting standards;
- Preparing 3 ways budget, profit and loss, balance sheet and cashflow;
- Co-operating with the external auditors and the preparation of the schedules for the half yearly review and annual audit;
- Ensuring that all the accounting and taxation transactions comply with current legislation.
About You
- Australian/NZ Citizenship or Permanent Resident status.
- Bachelorβs degree in Accounting, Finance or related field
- CPA/CA qualified (or near completion)
- At least 2-3 yearsβ experience in a similar role.
- Impeccable verbal and written communication skills.
- A strong eye for detail and the ability to follow up.
- Great organisational skills, with the ability to multi-task, prioritise and work efficiently.
- Excellent customer service skills.
- Demonstrated success working collaboratively to achieve team goals.
- Proficiency in MS Office Suite with an Advanced level of Excel skills.
