Our mission is for everybody to experience the unconditional love of pets. The efficiency and health of our marketplace is a key lever to accomplish that. We are looking for a Marketplace Economics Strategist to partner with the Product and Marketplace organizations to define Rover’s global economics strategy.
In this role, you’ll be responsible for establishing a data-driven framework to guide key marketplace economy decisions, ensuring highly competitive positioning, and balancing the core objectives of supply strategy, customer acquisition, and margin health. Your work will directly shape how our marketplace evolves and delivers value to customers globally.
This is a hybrid position that has the minimum expectation to work out of our Barcelona Office in the Poblenou neighborhood two days per week on Mondays and Thursdays. For this reason, candidates must be based in Barcelona or willing to relocate.
Your responsibilities:
- Define and lead the marketplace economic strategy, turning company growth objectives into actionable pricing levers
- Analyse, design and evolve commission structures, discount programs, and economic incentive models that align supply success with new customer acquisition goals
- Establish and oversee the collection and use of competitive marketplace insights, ensuring we have the right coverage across markets and services
- Develop frameworks for ensuring fair, transparent, and competitive value propositions, balancing customer trust with strong supply business relationships
- Partner with Product and Marketplace leaders to connect product priorities for Pet Owners and Providers with pricing strategy and tactics.
- Act as the voice of marketplace economics in the company, providing insights and influencing leadership and senior stakeholders

- You can go get the information you need to validate your hypotheses and can synthesize it into what to do next
- You never hesitate to roll up your sleeves and tackle something hands-on, you persevere when others fall away
- You never stop pushing towards clarity and delivery and bring your cross-functional partners along with you
Your Qualifications:
- 10+ years of experience in marketplaces, e-commerce, or travel, with a strong track record in pricing or revenue management
- 5+ years track record working on marketplace economics and pricing
- Experience on quantitative and qualitative research skills, applied to pricing dynamics and modeling
- Strong marketplace acumen and ability to balance provider revenue goals with competitive customer pricing and new customer acquisition
- Experience working cross-functionally with Product, Data, Strategy teams, and Finance in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills; able to influence senior leadership and other senior stakeholders
