Job Description
Why join us?
We’re a global tech company, just not the kind you’re picturing.
Sure, we’ve got catered lunches, team events, cool merch, and yes… dogs in the office. But that’s not why people join.
Our team of nearly a thousand people wakes up every day to make our product and our customers’ lives better. At SafetyCulture, you’ll hear “yes, let’s give it a shot” more often than “that’s not how we do things here.”
People join because we’re building tools that make work better for the 3 billion people who keep the world moving - factory floor operators, baggage handlers, truck drivers, servers, store assistants. The ones who make things happen. We’ve got the scale and innovation you’d expect from big tech. The difference? No endless layers of sign-off. No corporate theatre. Just smart, experienced people solving real problems fast .
The scale is big. But the ownership’s personal. Every full-time team member gets equity - real skin in the game. When we grow, you do too. We’re not perfect, no company is. But this next chapter of our growth is about scaling with intelligence, not just size - fueled by operational maturity, a clear vision, and a strong focus on AI.
This is big tech impact, without the big tech ick. If that excites you more than it scares you, you’ll fit right in.
At SafetyCulture, we help businesses get better every day. As the operational heartbeat of working teams, our technology gives workers a voice and leaders the visibility to make smart decisions. We’re constantly evolving our platform across web and mobile, and actively pursuing AI-first experiences - from vision and voice to agentic workflows - but we believe there’s more to be done. Recently valued at AU$2.5Bn, we’re investing our resources into creating and shaping a better workplace for all.
We are growing fast and looking for a talented, self-motivated Senior Engineering Manager who values collaboration, growth, and learning to join our culture crew. This role provides the opportunity to guide multiple teams and leaders, shaping the technical strategy and operating model for an entire product group.
What you’ll do:
You’ll lead multiple engineering teams and engineering managers across a product group, partnering with Product and Design to set direction and align on goals, roadmap, and investment. You’ll establish and improve delivery systems to ensure predictable flow, own the reliability and scalability of your group’s services, and raise the bar on technical strategy and architecture. You’ll champion a metrics-led engineering culture, develop and coach managers, tech leads, and senior ICs, and represent your group in cross-group collaboration and leadership forums.
We’re in the middle of a genuine shift in how software gets built. Our engineering teams are embracing AI-assisted development, and we’re building products that put AI at the centre of the frontline worker experience. There’s real opportunity here for a leader who wants to shape both sides of that equation.
The team:
The group operates with multiple cross-functional teams aligned around shared goals, with embedded Product, Design, and QE. You’ll work closely with Engineering, Product, and Design leaders both within your group and across other PDE groups. The group runs a layered support model to protect delivery flow while maintaining responsiveness and product health. Check out some of the things we’ve been doing on our blog.
We’re looking for someone who:
- Has successfully led engineering managers and scaled multiple teams through periods of significant growth.
- Has a strong record of hiring and developing great, diverse talent at all levels.
- Can set clear technical strategy and drive architectural decisions across a product group.
- Has strong delivery management skills and can establish effective planning and execution rituals.
- Is a clear communicator who can influence stakeholders and represent their group at the leadership level.
- Has a strong sense of ownership and accountability for outcomes across teams.
- Is curious about and actively engaged in the AI transformation of software engineering.
What you’ll get:
- Hybrid working — we encourage you to create the best work blend while working from your home and the local SafetyCulture office.
- Access to professional and personal training and development opportunities.
- Hackathons, Workshops, Lunch & Learns.
- We encourage involvement in the community, open source work, attending talks and events, and experimenting with new technologies.
Office benefits:
- In-house Culinary Crew serving up daily breakfast, lunch and snacks.
- Barista coffee machine, craft beer on tap, boutique wines and a range of non-alcoholic beverages.
- Quarterly celebrations and team events.
- Table tennis, board games, books library, and pet-friendly office.
