About SimpliSafe
We’re a high-tech home security company that’s passionate about protecting the life you’ve built and our mission of keeping Every Home Secure. And we’ve created a culture here that cares just as deeply about the career you’re building. Ours is a no ego culture of collaboration and innovation where those seeking their next challenge can find big opportunities and make a huge impact on the lives of all those who we protect. We don’t just want you to work here. We want you to grow and thrive here.

We all benefit from flexibility and get to use the best of both worlds to get our work done.
Why are we hiring?
Well, we’re growing and thriving. So, we need smart, talented, and humble people who share our values to join us as we disrupt the home security space and relentlessly pursue our mission of keeping Every Home Secure.
About the Role
We are seeking a Senior Director of Data Science - Acquisition & Retention to build and lead a centralized data science organization responsible for driving measurable, incremental Subscriber Growth and Customer Lifetime Value (CLV) across acquisition, retention, and monetization.
This role is designed for a leader who has built and operated production-grade decision systems at scale, and who understands how advanced modeling, optimization, and AI translate into durable business advantage. The Senior Director will transform data science from an embedded analytics function into a core growth capability, deeply integrated into marketing and product execution.
What You Will Do
Set the Vision and Operating Model
- Define the long-term vision and near-term roadmap for acquisition and retention data science.
- Establish CLV as the primary optimization currency across marketing, lifecycle, and product decisions.
- Shift the organization from analysis and experimentation toward automated, learning decision systems.
- Serve as a senior thought partner to executives on personalization, AI strategy, and growth optimization.
Drive Revenue and Retention Impact
- Own delivery of incremental revenue, retention lift, and acquisition efficiency gains attributable to data science initiatives.
- Deploy predictive CLV and churn models that actively inform media investment, offer strategy, and customer experiences.
- Partner with Marketing and Media teams to integrate advanced signals into bidding, targeting, and budget allocation.
- Lead AI-driven optimization of product feeds and creative inputs for paid media and marketplaces.
Build Decision Systems, Not Just Models
Lead development of:
- Real-time and event-driven CLV models
- Churn and lifecycle propensity models
- Customer- and context-aware decisioning frameworks
Move beyond traditional A/B testing toward personalization with multiple right answers, using approaches such as bandits, reinforcement learning, and agent-based optimization.
Ensure models are embedded into production workflows where they drive consistent, automated action.
Develop Platforms and Signals
- Build proprietary customer and product signals that compound in value over time.
- Oversee real-time scoring pipelines and integration with marketing, product, and data platforms.
- Establish standards for model quality, monitoring, governance, and responsible use of AI.
Lead and Scale the Team
- Consolidate and lead a team of data scientists focused on acquisition and retention.
- Hire, mentor, and retain high-performing applied ML and decision science talent.
- Create an operating environment that emphasizes ownership, speed, and measurable impact.
- Partner closely with Analytics, Data Engineering, Marketing, Ecommerce, Product, and Technology leaders.
What We’re Looking For
Required
- 10+ years of experience in data science, applied machine learning, or decision science, including senior leadership roles.
- Demonstrated success delivering business-critical ML systems with direct revenue or CLV impact.
- Deep expertise in customer modeling, retention analytics, and growth optimization.
Strong experience operationalizing models into production environments.
- Ability to communicate complex technical concepts clearly to senior business leaders.
Preferred
- Experience building personalization or recommendation systems at scale.
- Familiarity with advanced optimization approaches beyond traditional experimentation.
- Background in growth, marketing science, or lifecycle management.
- Experience leading centralized data science teams in complex, cross-functional organizations.
What Values You’ll Share
- Customer Obsessed - Building deep empathy for our customers, putting them at the core of our work, and developing strong, long-term relationships with them.
- Aim High - Always challenging ourselves and others to raise the bar.
- No Ego - Maintaining a “no job too small” attitude, and an open, inclusive and humble style.
- One Team - Taking a highly collaborative approach to achieving success.
- Lift As We Climb - Investing in developing others and helping others around us succeed.
- Lean & Nimble - Working with agility and efficiency to experiment in an often ambiguous environment.
