Smartcar

We provide an API platform for developers to build mobility applications. Our platform allows web and mobile apps to connect to vehicle data from 40 car brands across the US and other countries, without requiring aftermarket hardware like OBD dongles. Our API facilitates functions such as verifying mileage, managing EV charging, issuing digital car keys, and tracking fleets. We also retrieve various vehicle data points, including charge voltage, amperage, wattage, battery level, charging state, range, odometer, location, fuel, diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs), and tire pressure warnings.

Our services are used by applications in areas like repair and maintenance, distributed energy resource management systems (DERMS), virtual power plants (VPPs), car insurance (including usage-based insurance and claims intelligence), peer-to-peer car sharing, smart EV charging, and fleet management. Founded in 2015, we offer AI-assisted, developer-friendly APIs and SDKs that provide standardized, OEM-grade data. We deliver data instantly via webhooks and manage user consent for data access through Smartcar Connect, an OAuth2-based authorization flow designed for transparency and privacy. Our platform has global reach across more than 30 countries.
