We provide compliant data infrastructure as a service, primarily for healthcare, to help organizations connect their data. Founded in 2016, we help governments, researchers, health systems, providers, and app developers build connected health solutions using our expertise in health data and HL7 FHIR. Our company builds on over 40 years of experience in enterprise systems.

Our main product, Smile CDR, is a FHIR-based clinical data repository (CDR) offered as a service. It’s built for high performance and security, following Privacy by Design principles. Smile CDR supports multiple FHIR versions and profiles, full-text indexing of clinical records, type-ahead search, and various data input methods like FHIR, HL7v2, and custom ETL. It also includes federated identity, international character support, terminology services, auditing, Smart on FHIR integration, rapid deployment, and extensive administrative tools. You can host Smile CDR in the cloud or on-premises. We also maintain HAPI FHIR, an open-source reference implementation of FHIR.

We also offer the Smile Health Data Platform, which standardizes legacy data into structured FHIR resources and can process nearly 2 billion resources daily and over 255,000 transactions per second. Our Clinical Quality Intelligence Suite helps turn data into useful insights, and our CMS Suite assists with compliance. We offer Professional Services for custom solutions, Training programs for FHIR and platform implementation, Support Services, and Managed Services. We hold HITRUST® R2, ISO 27001, ISO 27018, ISO 13485, and SOC 2 Type II certifications, and were the first to get Drummond Group Certification for end-to-end interoperability. We report over 160 global implementations and more than 20 payer compliance implementations.
