Sofar Sounds

We started in 2009 in a London flat, building a global community around intimate live experiences. We turn unconventional spaces into venues for local art and culture, originally focusing on music, but now including comedy, dating, food & drink, and dance.

We’ve helped discover emerging talent, with artists like Billie Eilish, Jack Harlow, Chappell Roan, Leon Bridges, YEBBA, Teddy Swims, Remi Wolf, Hozier, and Lola Young performing with us early in their careers. Our alumni have collectively received 129 Grammy nominations and 21 wins in the past four years.

Our events take place in unique spots—caves, churches, hidden museum rooms, private living rooms, gardens, rooftops, a ski jump tower, various boats, a toy shop, and a wax museum. We work with over 10,000 venues and tens of thousands of artists.

Past partners include 20th Century Fox, Anheuser-Busch, Arc’teryx, Delta, Focus Features, Ford, Lexus, Lyft, Pernod Ricard, Sierra Nevada, Showtime, Sony, and Visa. We organize live music, events, and performance art, specializing in house shows, secret shows, and pop-up shows.

We want to redefine live experiences, transforming unconventional spaces into intimate venues for local art and culture. We focus on discovering rising talent and building a global community.

Our core values are about creating memorable and magical experiences for guests, with an emphasis on quality, diversity, and an inclusive, artist-first approach. We believe in building community and value both local and global collaboration.

We have between 51 and 200 employees. Our work environment is autonomous, entrepreneurial, and community-driven.

Roles like Freelance Local Producers come with significant responsibility for local operations, including planning, curating, promoting, and executing intimate live experiences. These roles offer a self-directed, flexible schedule, often involving evening and weekend work.

Team members are expected to build local networks with artists, venues, and partners, while also collaborating with our global teams and resources. We encourage accountability and initiative, supporting self-starters. We value belonging and diversity, aiming to connect artists and audiences through intimate live experiences.

We may use AI tools in our hiring process, but final decisions are always made by humans.

For certain roles, pay is commission-based per show, and your earnings depend on ticket prices, show volume, and performance. We offer a flexible schedule, with work often happening in the evenings and on weekends.

We also have a revenue share model based on event performance, commissions for local sponsorships you sell, and coordination fees for helping execute partnerships sold by our global team.
