Founded in 2001, we design and manufacture lab automation solutions for the biotechnology research industry. We focus on liquid handling, sample preparation, and sample management. Our products include firefly, mosquito, dragonfly, and apricot for liquid handling; comPOUND, comPACT, arktic, BioMicroLab range, and lab2lab for automated sample management systems capable of -80°C to ambient storage; and chameleon and Quantifoil for cryo-EM sample and grid preparation. Our solutions are used in genomics, drug discovery, structural biology, high content analysis, cell-based imaging, biobanking, high-throughput immunoassays, crystallography, next-generation sequencing, and assay development. We offer over 30 products.\n\nSince 2018, we have expanded through acquisitions. In 2019, we introduced chameleon and acquired Quantifoil, which specializes in cryo-electron microscopy sample preparation and support foils. In 2020, we acquired LBD Life Sciences, an instrumentation supplier in China, and opened an office in Japan. In 2021, we expanded our liquid handling technologies by acquiring Apricot Designs, adding air displacement technology and an OEM business. That same year, acquiring BioMicroLab strengthened our capabilities in modular, automated sample storage systems. EQT Private Equity acquired us in 2022.\n\nWe operate globally with seven locations, including production centers in Covina, CA, USA; Melbourn (Cambridge), UK; and Jena, Germany (Quantifoil). Our commercial hubs are in Tokyo, Japan; Shanghai, China; and Delhi, India, with an additional production center in Hangzhou, China.
