Job Description
A bit about the role and what you’ll do…
We are seeking a driven, commercially astute Account Director to lead and grow strategic customer relationships across Southern Africa. This is a high-impact regional role for a seasoned sales and business development professional who thrives on building partnerships, unlocking new revenue streams, and delivering measurable customer value.
You will be responsible for driving regional operations in alignment with strategic objectives, nurturing long-term client relationships, and identifying new business opportunities across multiple verticals. This role blends strategic thinking with hands-on execution and offers the opportunity to work closely with senior decision-makers across industries.
As an Account Director you will:
- Lead regional operations and partner engagement aligned to regional strategy
- Identify and convert new business opportunities with both existing and prospective customers
- Build and maintain a strong pipeline through networking, relationship building, and market outreach
- Establish and strengthen relationships with partners and OEMs to drive synergy and growth
- Own customer value realisation, ensuring measurable ROI from deployed solutions
- Lead complex deal cycles from preparation and presentation through to successful close
- Translate customer and market insights into go-to-market and product strategy input
- Manage renewal negotiations and legal engagement through final signature
- Ensure all sales systems and documentation (e.g. CRM platforms) are accurate and up to date
- Support customer solutions and partner accounts across the Southern African region
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to maximise upsell, cross-sell, and expansion opportunities
- Travel within the region as required
What we’re looking for…
Experience
- Significant senior sales/business development experience, ideally in technology or telecom sectors
- Experience with mobile devices, software solutions, or telecom services is highly advantageous
- Strong working knowledge of CRM platforms (e.g. Salesforce)
- Demonstrated success managing and scaling large or strategic accounts
- Experience working within matrixed or cross-regional organisations
- Hands-on exposure to multiple sales methodologies
Knowledge
- Solid understanding of the mobile device ecosystem, OEMs, service providers, and mobile application security
- Strong familiarity with Southern African markets and regional business dynamics
Skills
- Exceptional sales, negotiation, and closing abilities
- Strong communication and presentation skills across all audience levels, including C-Suite
- Proven ability to build deep, long-term client relationships
- Commercially minded with a strong results orientation
- Skilled in managing complex deal cycles and partnership evaluations
- Self-motivated, proactive, and capable of working independently or within a team
- Persuasive and collaborative, able to align multiple stakeholders
- Cultural awareness and maturity when engaging diverse clients
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree, MBA, or equivalent professional experience preferred
