About Urban Insight

We are a digital agency founded in 2000 in Los Angeles. We partner with mission-focused organizations, designing and building websites and applications for cultural arts institutions, associations, nonprofits, and educational organizations worldwide to help them engage with their audiences and achieve their goals. We have launched over 500 websites.

We specialize in open-source platforms like Drupal and WordPress, and also work with headless architectures. Our services include digital strategy, website design and development, Drupal and WordPress migration and support, user experience design and research, UI/UX design, headless web development, website accessibility, web application development, progressive web applications, and ADA compliance.

Our work emphasizes strong project leadership, honest advice, thoughtful design, technical best practices, and data-driven strategy. We develop primarily on the LAMP (Linux, Apache, MySQL, PHP) stack. We guarantee projects will be completed on-time and on-budget; if not, we provide one free month of operations support after launch. From 2019-2023, Clutch recognized us as a top Los Angeles web development agency, frequently ranking us among the top 10 nationwide.

  • Competent: We perform work to the highest standards consistently.
  • Always Improve: We encourage continuous learning and certification, learn from clients, and openly share knowledge.

We commit to work-life balance, typically maintaining 40-hour work weeks. Our average employee tenure is about 6.5 years. We invest in technical certifications and offer a customized 6-month training plan for new hires, followed by an annual training plan and mentorship for technical team members. We encourage employees to contribute to the Drupal project, present at conferences, and participate in DrupalCon. We hold weekly team events like Lightning Demos, Lunch & Learns, Game Breaks, and Focus Fridays to promote participation and learning. We are anti-bureaucratic, providing direct access to the CEO and COO, and promote from within when possible. We provide the latest hardware and software, allowing team members to choose their primary development platform (MacOS, Windows, or Linux).

We offer employer-paid health, dental, and vision insurance, covering 95% of the costs. We provide a company-sponsored 401(k) plan with an employer match, available after 60 days of employment. We support professional development through an annual customized training plan for all team members and mentorship for technical staff. We encourage continuous learning and certification by providing resources and reimbursing the cost of approved certification exams once passed. Performance and compensation reviews are annual.
