Overview:
This is a second line of defence (2LoD) role. It focuses on complex investigations, rules management, data, monitoring, and reporting—not the high-volume transaction reviewing.
SIM Swap, account takeover (ATO), identity theft, and card-not-present fraud is increasing therefore forming part of this role’s focus.

Proven experience in fraud detection, risk management, or a similar analytical role
Proficiency in data analysis tools (such as SQL or Excel) to query large datasets and identify anomalies.
Knowledge of common fraud typologies like SIM Swap, account takeover (ATO), identity theft, and card-not-present fraud.
An inquisitive mindset with the ability to spot subtle patterns that others might overlook.
Excellent communication skills, with a focus on explaining complex technical findings to non-technical stakeholders.
This is a hybrid role working from our Farringdon office 1-2 days per week.

The UW Fraud Team is responsible for developing and implementing effective strategies and solutions to solve our business problems.
Working in the Legal and Compliance division, reporting to the Fraud and Financial Crime Manager, this role will work alongside 2 other Fraud Analysts.

As the Fraud Analyst at UW you will have the following responsibilities:
Monitor and analyse fraud escalations to identify and prevent fraudulent activity across multiple products
Investigate suspicious accounts and conduct root-cause analysis on fraud patterns to mitigate future financial loss.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Customer Support and Engineering, to improve detection logic and system rules.
Prepare detailed reports on fraud trends and loss metrics for leadership to support data-driven decision-making.
Support regulatory reporting through Suspicious Activity Report (SAR) creation and PECR reporting to the ICO
We are seeking a candidate who combines analytical thinking with a sharp attention to detail to solve complex problems and ensure accuracy. You should be adaptable enough to keep pace with evolving fraud trends while maintaining the highest ethical integrity and confidentiality. Most importantly, you will balance rigorous security with customer empathy to ensure a fair and seamless experience for our users
