Job Description

Role Summary

Hands-on Microsoft 365 Engineer responsible for the governance, security and optimisation of the Microsoft Power Platform and Microsoft 365 services across the internal organisation. The role covers Power Apps, Power Automate, Power BI, Exchange Online, SharePoint, Teams and OneDrive, alongside Entra ID identity management and compliance tooling.

We are looking for a technically strong and pragmatic M365 and Power Platform professional who combines deep platform expertise with the ability to advise and guide stakeholders across the business. The ideal candidate is a confident communicator who can translate complex technical concepts into clear outcomes, while maintaining a strong focus on security, governance and value.

They take ownership of platform standards and decisions, work collaboratively across teams, and are motivated to continuously improve and modernise the cloud environment, balancing innovation with stability and control.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the Microsoft Power Platform, including environment management, data connectors, custom connector governance, DLP policies and capacity planning across Power Apps, Power Automate and Power BI.
  • Build, maintain and support the Power Platform Centre of Excellence (CoE) toolkit to drive adoption, governance and visibility across the organisation.
  • Implement and maintain security policies, compliance configurations and data loss prevention (DLP) across Power Platform and M365.
  • Manage and optimise M365 cloud services including Exchange Online, SharePoint Online, OneDrive and Teams, covering mailbox lifecycle management, mail-flow rules, transport policies and webmail/OWA access restrictions.
  • Manage Entra ID accounts, permissions, custom admin roles, MFA, PIM and RBAC across M365, Entra ID, Power Platform and Azure resources, including access reviews and just-in-time activation policies.
  • Manage retention policies, litigation holds and e-Discovery searches.
  • Monitor system performance, usage, health, spam filtering, threat protection and email compliance; produce reports and recommendations.
  • Monitor and manage backup platform reports on the AvePoint backup platform.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams and vendors to troubleshoot and resolve complex issues; produce clear documentation, runbooks and incident reports.
  • Stay current with the Microsoft roadmap and proactively plan for platform changes.
  • Mentor and upskill team members, sharing knowledge and bringing the wider team along as the platform evolves.
  • Ensure adherence to ITIL processes and organisational standards.

Qualifications

Qualifications & Experience

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in an IT specialist or equivalent role with a strong Microsoft 365 and Windows focus.
  • Strong experience administering the Microsoft Power Platform, including environment lifecycle, DLP policies, data connectors and governance.
  • Experience with Entra ID, including access management, identity governance, conditional access policies, PIM and RBAC is advantageous.
  • Deep technical knowledge of M365 applications and services, including administration and troubleshooting.

Desirable Certifications

  • Microsoft Certified: Power Platform Fundamentals (PL-900) or Power Platform Solution Architect Expert (PL-600)
  • Microsoft Certified: Modern Desktop Administrator Associate
  • Microsoft 365 Certified: Enterprise Administrator Expert
  • Microsoft Certified: Security, Compliance and Identity Fundamentals (SC-900)
  • Microsoft Certified: Identity and Access Administrator Associate (SC-300)
