The role
As Wayve rapidly scales, our IT team plays a crucial role in keeping our employees productive and our operations efficient. We’re looking for an IT Support Engineer (TC2) to support the day-to-day IT needs across our Japan offices. This is a full-time, on-site role, with flexibility required to support each of our 3 offices as needed. You’ll be a hands-on, first-line problem solver—supporting everything from laptop configuration to meeting room A/V to network troubleshooting. You’ll also support joiner/mover/leaver processes, including onboarding and off-boarding tasks.
This role is ideal for someone early in their IT career who is eager to learn, thrives in a fast-paced environment, and wants to grow their skills while contributing to cutting-edge work in autonomous vehicle development.
Key responsibilities
End-User Support
- Provide timely support for laptops (Windows, macOS, Linux), mobile devices, printers, and peripherals.
- Troubleshoot hardware and software issues and escalate as needed.
- Manage onboarding and off-boarding tasks, including account provisioning and hardware setup when needed.
IT Systems & Tools
- Maintain and monitor endpoint management systems (e.g., MDM, patching, asset inventory).
- Assist in configuring and maintaining core business tools (e.g., GSuite, Slack, Jira, …).
- Help with access control and identity systems (SSO, MFA, user permissions).
Network & Infrastructure Support
- Support basic network troubleshooting (Wi-Fi, VPN, wired connectivity) under the guidance of senior engineers.
- Help manage and maintain meeting room A/V equipment, including Google Meet and Teams rooms.
- Provide on-site support across Japan offices as needed (3 offices).
Documentation & Process
- Contribute to internal IT documentation and knowledge base articles.
- Log and track tickets using the internal IT ticketing system (e.g., Jira, ServiceNow).
Team Collaboration
- Work closely with IT, Security, and Facilities teams to ensure smooth daily operations.
- Help support company-wide IT initiatives and system rollouts as needed.
About you
In order to set you up for success as an IT Support Engineer at Wayve, we’re looking for the following skills and experience.
Essential
- 1–2 years of professional experience in an IT support or systems administration role (internships or apprenticeships welcome).
- Familiarity with macOS
- Empathetic and service-oriented with strong communication skills.
- Willingness to learn and grow in a rapidly evolving tech environment.
- Ability to prioritize tasks and follow through with minimal supervision.
- Exposure to identity platforms (e.g., Okta, Google Workspace, Azure AD).
- Familiarity with ticketing systems and ITSM workflows.
- JLPT N1 required (or equivalent business-level fluency) in Japanese, written and spoken.
- Fluency in English (written and spoken) required
Desirable
- Basic understanding of networking concepts (IP, DNS, DHCP, VPN).
- Familiarity with Linux operating systems.
- Experience with endpoint management tools (e.g., Kandji, Intune, …).
