About the role

✅ Salary: $60,000

📍 Option to work in person or remote: This position offers the flexibility to work from anywhere in the world.

Available shifts are 12:00pm EST to 8:00pm EST, 4:00pm to 12:00am EST, and 12:00am to 8:00am EST. You must be available to work on the weekends.

As a Fraud Specialist, it is your job to make sure that merchants are selling only high-quality, trusted products on Whop and customers are making only legitimate payments. You will leverage Whop’s fraud tools to investigate anomalies, review high-risk flags, and escalate situations as needed.

You will make sure that customers fully trust every single purchase they make on Whop, merchants trust they can sell their products safely, and all activity on the platform falls within our Terms of Service.

Your First 30 Days:

  • Day 7: Meet the team, dive into our products, and get familiar with Whop’s internal fraud tools and processes. Dig into the knowledge base and start grasping basic workflows around risk and fraud.
  • Day 14: Shadow the pros – watch how account audits, financing application reviews, and resolution center cases are handled. Master our escalation procedures.
  • Day 21: Complete merchant audits, processing statement reviews,
  • Day 30: Identify and escalate new trends in fraudulent activity to our product and engineering teams. Collaborate across teams as needed, and get feedback to refine your skills and set goals for the next 60 days.

Who You Are:

  • Analytical and strategic: You find patterns in data and are able to zoom out
  • Whop savvy: You’ve used our platform and know it inside out.
  • Payments expert: You’ve got deep knowledge or experience working with e-commerce payments, and you’re familiar with ways bad actors try to exploit the space.
  • Creative problem solver: You love finding unique solutions to tough problems, and you do so with urgency.

What You’ll Be Doing:

  • Responsible for Whop merchant account audits, reviewing risk flags from our internal fraud tooling and setting reserves or suspending accounts accordingly
  • Review merchant applications to access financing options, including review of payment processor statements
  • Escalate fraudulent trends to product and engineering teams so we can build solutions into our product

Qualifications:

  • Previous experience risk, compliance, or a similar role
  • Deep understanding of risk and fraud at an ecommerce or payments company
  • Ability to juggle tasks, manage time in a fast-paced environment, and act in high-pressure situations
  • Familiarity with Whop, Intercom, Slack, Sardine.ai, and Linear is a bonus.
  • Ready to work different shifts, including nights and weekends.
