About the Role

We’re looking for a detail-oriented Carrier Compliance & Risk Specialist to manage carrier vetting, verification, and insurance monitoring. This role is essential to protecting our freight, customers, and operations from compliance and cargo risk.

You will own the carrier approval process, work closely with management on risk reviews, and ensure that all carriers meet Grane’s compliance standards before and during active operations.

Key Responsibilities

Carrier Compliance & Vetting

  • Review, approve, or reject new carrier profiles using Highway

  • Ensure all carriers meet internal compliance standards prior to onboarding

  • Continuously improve carrier vetting procedures and update SOPs based on best practices

  • Use Carrier411 and other tools to support risk assessment

High-Risk & High-Value Freight Verification

  • Personally verify carriers assigned to high-risk or high-value loads (e.g. Grainger, LG, Samsung, tire shipments)

  • Conduct mandatory verification steps:

    • Call carriers using the FMCSA-registered phone number

    • Collect and validate CDL and VIN information

Insurance Monitoring & Risk Management

  • Validate insurance compliance for all new carrier setups

  • Maintain ongoing, real-time monitoring of active carriers’ insurance status

  • Identify, escalate, and help mitigate insurance gaps or compliance risks

  • Participate in bi-weekly risk and insurance review meetings with management, covering:

    • Company-specific carrier issues

    • Industry trends in claims and cargo risk

Reporting

  • Prepare and distribute a weekly insurance compliance report every Friday (EOD), including:

    • New carrier setups

    • Current insurance status

    • Identified risks or coverage gaps

Working conditions:

  • Working schedule: Mon-Fri 8 am - 5 pm CST

Requirements

What We’re Looking For

  • Strong attention to detail and compliance accuracy

  • Confidence communicating with carriers by phone

  • Ability to follow structured processes while improving them

  • Comfortable working independently and owning critical responsibilities

  • Logistics, freight brokerage, or carrier compliance experience is a plus
