The Chief of Staff at Nest Health is a key leader in diving our mission to deliver compassionate, in-home healthcare to families who need it most. By streamlining processes and managing critical initiatives, the Chief of Staff strengthens our ability to expand access to care and build a more equitable healthcare system for families everywhere.
What is the role?
The Chief of Staff for Strategy and Policy serves as a strategic partner to the executive leadership team, managing critical policy initiatives, government relations, and strategic planning. This role combines high-level policy development with strategic stakeholder management and executive support to drive organizational growth and impact, particularly in healthcare and Medicaid spaces. The position requires a balance of strategic thinking with strong operational execution to ensure organizational efficiency and effectiveness.

What will you do?
- Strategic Policy and Development and Planning
- Lead the development of 3-5 year policy and relevance strategy
- Design and implement state Medicaid policy approaches and health plan growth strategies
- Conduct comprehensive landscape analysis to identify emerging trends and opportunities
- Create strategic frameworks for organizational growth and market positioning
- Prioritize and strategically select funding opportunities and partnerships
- Contribute to strategic planning initiatives and assist with developing long- term goals and objectives
- Conduct research and analysis to support executive decision- making and present findings
- Government and External Relations
- Establish and maintain relationships with state and national government officials
- Represent the organization in policy discussions and forums
- Monitor regulatory developments and assess impact on organizational strategy
- Develop position papers and policy recommendations
- Coordinate cross- functional responses to policy changes
- Stakeholder Management
- Manage Board of Directors relations, including meeting preparation, communications, and strategic engagement (“caring and feeding”)
- Oversee investor relations strategy and communications, including drafting updates and managing materials
- Support board and investor meetings, developing agendas, creating presentations, taking minutes, and ensuring follow- through
- Facilitate productive engagement between executive leadership and key stakeholders
- Develop and implement stakeholder engagement strategies
- Act as a liaison between the CEO and other departments, as well as external contacts
- Executive Leadership Support
- Orchestrate strategic time management for senior leadership team
- Understand CEO and COO priorities and act as air traffic controller through effective schedule management
- Plan and execute strategic conferences, high level meetings, and company- wide events
- Provide strategic context and recommendations for executive decision- making
- Function as a strategic connector between different organizational initiatives
- Facilitate Executive and Leadership team meetings, including proactively developing agenda, taking notes, and ensuring timely follow-up
- Assist with complex travel planning and logistics for executives
- Handle communications on behalf of founders, ensuring timely responses and appropriate prioritization
- Operations and project management
- Streamline administrative processes and create efficient systems
- Identify opportunities for optimization, including building and maintaining tracking tools
- Ensure careful documentation of discussions and meetings for longitudinal initiatives
- Maintain and organize company documents and files, including improving SharePoint organization
- Manage special projects across multiple domains, from requirements gathering to execution
- Monitor and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) to the executive team
- Write original materials for the CEO’s office and company communications to employees and external platforms
- Ensure CEO and COO meetings have agendas, materials, and documentation
- Organizational Effectiveness
- Assess organizational culture and “read the room” to identify potential challenges
- Develop strategic planning processes that align with organizational objectives
- Ensure that strategic initiatives remain aligned with organizational mission and values
- Identify opportunities to improve cross- functional collaboration and efficiency
What do you bring to Nest?
- Education and Experience
- Master’s degree in Public Policy, Healthcare Administration, Business Administration, or related field
- 7+ years of experience in strategic roles within healthcare organizations, government relations, or policy development
- Demonstrated experience in Medicaid policy and healthcare strategy
- Experience working directly with executive leadership and boards of directors
- Track record of successful project management and operational excellence
- Skills and competencies
- Expert knowledge of healthcare policy landscape, particularly Medicaid
- Strong strategic thinking and planning capabilities
- Excellent stakeholder management and relationship- building skills
- Superior written and verbal communication abilities
- Proven ability to navigate complex organizational dynamics
- Political acumen and government relations experience
- Ability to synthesize complex information into actional strategies
- Strong project management and execution skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite, particularly SharePoint, PowerPoint, and Excel
- Exceptional organizational and time management skills
- Ability to prioritize multiple competing demands and maintain attention to detail
- Strong problem-solving and analytical capabilities
- Discretion when handling confidential and sensitive information
- This position reports directly to the CEO/ Executive Director and works closely with all members of the executive leadership team.
