Director, Behavioral Health

๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ United States - Remote
๐ŸŒ All Others๐Ÿ”ด Director

Job description

Solace is a healthcare advocacy marketplace that connects patients and families to experts who help them understand and take charge of their personal health

About the Role

Solace is transforming healthcare by ensuring every patient who wants a health advocate can access one. As we scale, we’re seeking an exceptional Director of Behavioral Health to build and lead a new behavioral health service line that will significantly expand our impact for patients who need integrated mental health support.

Reporting directly to our Chief Medical Officer (a psychiatrist), you’ll have the unique opportunity to develop Solace’s behavioral health strategy from the ground up and bring this critical clinical service to life. This role combines clinical expertise, strategic thinking, and operational leadership to create meaningful change in how behavioral health is delivered.

About Solace ๐Ÿ”ฅ

Healthcare in the U.S. is fundamentally broken. The system is so complex that 88% of U.S. adults do not have the health literacy necessary to navigate it without help. Solace cuts through the red tape of healthcare by pairing patients with expert advocates and giving them the tools to make better decisionsโ€”and get better outcomes.

We’re a Series B startup, founded in 2022 and backed by Inspired Capital, Craft Ventures, Torch Capital, Menlo Ventures, and Signalfire. Our fully remote U.S. team is lean, mission-driven, and growing quickly.

Solace isn’t a place to coast. We’re here to redefine healthcareโ€”and that demands urgency, precision, and heart. If you’re looking to stretch yourself, sharpen your edge, and do the best work of your life alongside a team that cares deeply, you’re in the right place. Weโ€™re intense, and we like it that way.

What You’ll Do

  • Lead the end-to-end development of Solace’s behavioral health service, creating a comprehensive strategy that seamlessly integrates with our primary advocate services to better serve patients with mental health needs.

  • Create compelling business cases for behavioral health services, establishing the clinical and financial rationale for this expansion while identifying key success metrics and growth opportunities.

  • Write evidence-based clinical protocols and operational workflows that ensure high-quality, consistent care delivery while meeting regulatory requirements and industry best practices.

  • Design staffing models, forecast patient volumes, and build a world-class team of behavioral health clinicians while establishing sustainable operational processes for growth.

  • Develop and implement clinical quality frameworks, monitor care outcomes, and provide clinical supervision to maintain the highest standards of patient care and regulatory compliance.

  • Own service performance post-launch, analyzing data to meet KPIs, identify improvement opportunities, and continuously enhance the patient experience.

  • Maintain direct clinical work to ensure deep understanding of service delivery and patient needs, informing strategic decisions with real-world insights.

What You Bring

  • Active LCSW license with willingness to obtain additional state licenses as needed. Must have clean licensure history to ensure swift credentialing across multiple states.

  • Minimum 5 years of active clinical practice combined with at least 3 years of experience leading clinical services, with demonstrated success in team management and service delivery.

  • Strong preference for candidates with MBA or equivalent business experience, particularly those with consulting, healthcare administration, or service line development backgrounds.

  • Prior experience developing new clinical service lines strongly preferred, with understanding of regulatory requirements, operational scaling, and quality assurance frameworks.

  • Ability to build from scratch, manage multiple priorities, and adapt quickly to evolving organizational needs.

  • Genuine passion for improving behavioral health access and outcomes, with excitement about leveraging technology to transform how mental health services are delivered.

This is a remote position. Applicants must be based in the United States.
