About The Role:
The Marketing Director will lead the strategy and execution of marketing initiatives to support CALSTART’s programs and member-driven projects. This role will focus on raising awareness of CALSTART’s initiatives, driving stakeholder engagement, and delivering measurable results. The ideal candidate is a seasoned marketer with expertise in digital and content marketing, social media strategy and managing high-impact campaigns. With 10+ years of experience, this individual will bring a proven track record of creating innovative and results-oriented marketing.
Strong preference to PST based candidates or candidates with the desire to work PST hours.
What You’ll Do:
- Strategic Marketing for Initiatives: Develop strategies and execute marketing campaigns to promote CALSTART’s programs, technical projects, and policy initiatives.
- Collaborate with program leads to identify target audiences, create key messaging, and define outreach approaches to drive engagement.
- Ensure marketing initiatives amplify the impact and visibility of CALSTART’s work to stakeholders and partners.
- Design and implement Marketing campaigns that are measurable, with an eye toward continuous optimization opportunities and gathering insights through analytics.
- Social Media & Digital Strategy: Lead CALSTART’s social media strategy across all platforms, ensuring consistent messaging and engagement.
- Create and oversee the execution of social media campaigns tailored to highlight key programs and initiatives.
- Monitor social media trends, analyze performance metrics, and adjust strategies to maximize audience reach and impact.
- Campaign Development & Execution: Manage multi-channel campaigns to raise awareness of CALSTART’s programs and projects.
- Develop high-quality marketing materials, such as reports, case studies, infographics, and videos, to support program goals.
- Utilize email marketing and other digital platforms to deliver targeted and engaging content to stakeholders.
- Collaboration Across Teams: Partner with program managers and leadership to align marketing strategies with organizational priorities.
- Support the business development and member services teams by creating materials and campaigns to drive member recruitment and retention.
- Work with the policy team to effectively communicate CALSTART’s advocacy efforts and achievements.
- Data-Driven Optimization: Analyze marketing performance metrics, including social media engagement, campaign effectiveness, and audience reach, to refine strategies and improve outcomes.
- Provide regular reports and insights to stakeholders and leadership on campaign results and marketing impact.
- Budgeting & Resource Management: Oversee marketing budgets, ensuring efficient use of resources and alignment with program objectives.
- Manage relationships with vendors and contractors to support specialized marketing needs.
What You’ll Bring To The Table:
- Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business, Communications, or a related field.
- 10+ years of experience in marketing leadership, with a proven track record of managing successful marketing initiatives.
- Expertise in social media strategy, including content creation, audience engagement, and performance analysis.
- Strong background in digital marketing, including email campaigns, SEO, content marketing and analytics.
- Exceptional project management skills, with the ability to balance competing priorities and deadlines.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to craft compelling narratives for diverse audiences.
Desired Qualifications:
- Master’s degree
- Familiarity with the clean transportation or environmental sectors.
- Experience marketing technical, policy-driven, or member-focused programs.
- Proficiency with tools such as Salesforce, Marketing Cloud, Google Analytics, and social media management platforms.
$117,000 - $140,000 a year
CALSTART values transparency and strives to provide as much information regarding compensation as possible. The complete salary range for this role is $117,000 - $140,000. We determine pay based on several factors, including but not limited to job-related skills, qualifications, experience, education, internal equity and other factors relevant to the job.
