We operate 3 business segments:

  1. Corporate Secretary: Automating the company incorporation, secretarial, filing, Nominee Director, mailroom and immigration processes via custom online robots and SleekSign.  We are the market leaders in Singapore with ~5% market share of all new business incorporations
  2. Accounting & Bookkeeping: Redefining what it means to do Accounting, Bookkeeping, Tax and Payroll thanks to our proprietary SleekBooks ledger, AI tools and exceptional customer service
  3. FinTech payments: Overcoming a key challenge for Entrepreneurs by offering digital banking services to new businesses

Sleek launched in 2017 and now has around 15,000 customers across our offices in Singapore, Hong Kong, Australia and the UK.  We have around 500 staff with an intact startup mindset.

We are looking for a Head of Accounting that is excited about the below Mission and Outcome.

Mission: The Head of Accounting leads the team, driving service delivery, process transformation, compliance, and profitability. They ensure team competency and client satisfaction through timely, accurate, and high-quality deliverables.

Outcomes:

  1. Lead and mentor the payroll team, delivering structured training to maintain up-to-date knowledge of Australian payroll legislation, superannuation requirements, and related regulatory changes.

  2. Oversee the accurate and timely processing of payroll for SME clients across diverse industries, ensuring compliance with ATO, and other statutory requirements.

  3. Ensure timely lodgement of payroll-related filings, including Single Touch Payroll (STP), superannuation, PAYG, and payroll tax, in line with client SLAs.

  4. Collaborate with internal teams to drive operational efficiency and maintain high client satisfaction.

  5. Monitor and improve gross profitability of the payroll function through efficient processes, accurate billing, and proactive client engagement.

  6. Maintain team productivity through timely hiring, targeted training, and prompt resolution of performance issues, ensuring adherence to Sleek’s workflows and quality standards.

  7. Work with product teams to continuously enhance Sleek’s payroll automation tools by sharing updated regulatory resources and operational insights.

To do this, you will have a minimum of 8 years experience in an Accounting leadership role and you will be located in Sydney.

Required Experience

  1. Recognised degree in Accountancy or equivalent.
  2. Professionally certified preferably with ACCA, CPA, or CA qualification.
  3. Proven track record of more than 8  years of leadership experience in a public accounting practice with sizable operations.
  4. Good understanding of Australian regulatory compliance.
  5. Resourceful and experience with various productivity software applicable to facilitate daily work, including the use of AI to streamline work.
  6. Self-motivated, positive attitude, proactive, highly-organised and detail-oriented.
  7. Good interpersonal and communication skills.
  8. Able to adapt to VUCA way of thinking and contribute to process improvement efforts.
  9. Able to meet tight deadlines.
  10. Preferably a Tax Agent - not mandatory.

The interview process

The successful candidate will participate in the below interview stages (note that the order might be slightly different).

We anticipate the process to last no more than 3 weeks from start to finish. Whether the interviews are held over video call or in person will depend on your location and the role.

Case study A ~60 minute chat with the Hiring Manager and/or another member of the team, where they will give you some real-life challenges that this role faces, and will ask for your approach to solving them.

Career deep dive A ~60 minute chat with the Hiring Manager. They’ll discuss your last 1-2 roles to understand your experience in more detail.

Behavioural fit assessment A ~60 minute chat with a member of HR or the leadership team, where they will dive into some of your recent work situations to understand how you think and work.

Offer + reference interviews We’ll make a non-binding offer verbally or over email, followed by a couple of short phone or video calls with references that you provide to us.
