Infrastructure Engineering Intern

Location: Remote in the United States

Target Dates:  June - August 2025

29 hours per week

Compensation: $20/hr

Responsibilities:

  • Support Infrastructure Projects:
    • Assist in the planning, development, and deployment of infrastructure projects.
    • Work under the guidance of senior engineers to ensure project goals are met.
  • System Maintenance:
    • Help monitor and maintain existing infrastructure, ensuring optimal performance and uptime.
    • Participate in troubleshooting and resolving hardware and software issues.
  • Network Management:
    • Assist in the configuration and management of network components such as routers, switches, and firewalls.
    • Monitor network performance and security.
  • Documentation:
    • Maintain and update technical documentation, including system configurations, processes, and procedures.
    • Document troubleshooting steps and resolutions for common issues.
  • Automation and Scripting:
    • Learn and assist in creating scripts to automate repetitive tasks.
    • Support efforts in infrastructure automation and orchestration.
  • Security and Compliance:
    • Assist in implementing security measures to protect the infrastructure.
    • Help ensure compliance with organizational policies and industry standards.
  • Collaboration and Communication:
    • Work closely with other team members and departments to support IT initiatives.
    • Communicate effectively with stakeholders to understand requirements and deliver solutions.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Currently pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • Technical Skills:
    • Basic understanding of network protocols and services.
    • Familiarity with operating systems such as Windows, Linux, or Unix.
    • Experience using Debian or Ubuntu is preferred.
    • Experience with scripting languages (e.g., Python, Bash) is a plus.
  • Analytical Skills: Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
  • Communication Skills: Good verbal and written communication skills.

Preferred Comptencies:

  • Eagerness to learn and adapt to new technologies.
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.

Experience:

  • Previous internship or coursework related to IT infrastructure or system administration is beneficial but not required.
