Position Overview

We are looking for a motivated Machine Learning Intern to join our team for an exciting opportunity to gain hands-on experience in machine learning engineering. This internship is ideal for students pursuing a Bachelor’s or early Master’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, or a related field, who are eager to learn, grow, and contribute in a real-world, collaborative environment.

As a Machine Learning Engineering Intern, you’ll work closely with experienced machine learning engineers, data scientists, and software engineers to support the development and integration of machine learning models into real-world systems. This is a learning-focused role, designed to offer mentorship and exposure to modern machine learning workflows, tools, and infrastructure, while contributing meaningfully to our projects.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the development and testing of machine learning models and data pipelines
  • Support data preprocessing, feature extraction, and exploratory data analysis
  • Collaborate with engineers and scientists on model training, evaluation, and experimentation
  • Help document workflows, performance metrics, and model outcomes
  • Participate in regular scrums, code reviews, and team meetings to gain exposure to agile development
  • Learn and contribute to projects using Databricks, Spark, and AWS tools
  • Apply fundamental programming skills (primarily in Python) to support various ML tasks

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, or related discipline
  • Familiarity with Python and basic ML libraries such as scikit-learn, pandas, or numpy
  • Exposure to or coursework in machine learning concepts, algorithms, or statistics
  • Interest in distributed systems, data engineering, or cloud-based platforms (e.g., AWS, Databricks)
  • Enthusiasm to learn, ask questions, and work collaboratively in a team
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

Beneficial Experience:

  • Exposure to Spark, PyTorch, or TensorFlow through coursework or personal projects
  • Experience working on group projects, hackathons, or research initiatives related to machine learning
  • Knowledge of healthcare data or coding systems (ICD, CPT, SNOMED)
  • Familiarity with version control (e.g., Git), Jupyter notebooks, or ML experimentation platforms
