We develop CMX CARE, an AI-powered contextual coding automation platform for healthcare operations. CMX CARE uses AI and machine learning to learn from Electronic Health Records (EHR), translating clinical notes into billing codes. This ensures claims accurately represent care, reduces human coding workload, and improves medical coding quality for health systems.

CMX CARE provides autonomous medical coding for multiple specialties and captures longitudinal data. We apply codes across all service lines for care, compliance, and performance, building a longitudinal patient view by coding at the first opportunity. The system audits against payer-specific guidelines to minimize denials and maximize reimbursement. This creates a complete clinical picture for decision-making and better outcomes.

Our platform started as a homegrown solution developed by the Massachusetts General Physician Organization’s billing office. We report outcomes such as a 70% reduction in manual coding, 5x faster turnaround times, 60% reduction in coding denials, and 30% savings in coding costs, alongside a 5:1 Return on Investment over five years. We also launched a new Emergency Department (ED) solution. It operates at a lower cost with minimal technology integration and no need for more staff, fitting into existing workflows.
