AT A GLANCE
RVO Health is seeking a full time Physician to join our interdisciplinary Medical Weight Loss (MWL) care team. As a MWL physician, you will be afforded an opportunity to identify, treat, and medically manage obesity as a chronic disease along with its secondary comorbidities. This whole person, programmatic primary care is transforming virtual healthcare nationally one patient at a time, surrounding each patient with a dedicated team of care navigators, case managers, registered dietitians, and medical providers. This fully remote opportunity is full time, Monday – Friday. No weekends or holidays.
What You’ll Do
You will bring healthcare solutions and clinical excellence to patients through virtual programmatic primary care service focusing on obesity management using real time audio visual engagement. All duties and responsibilities are to be performed in compliance with state and federal laws and regulations governing the legal scope of medical practice and practicing standard of evidence based medicine to each patient. You’ll enjoy the flexibility to telecommute* from anywhere within the U.S. as you take on some tough challenges.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Provide and manage remote patient care to include but not limited to physical examinations, evaluations, assessments, diagnoses, treatment, and chronic condition management.
- Promote and provide medical weight loss visits via telemedicine.
- Work collaboratively with primary care providers, bariatric surgeons, behavioral health providers and other healthcare professionals to coordinate and direct the care of the medical weight loss patients throughout their spectrum of treatment.
- Coordinate clinical care with the rest of the medical weight loss team of medical providers, registered dietitians, case managers, and care navigators.
- Participate in regularly scheduled medical weight loss care conferences.
- Order diagnostic tests such as x-ray, electrocardiogram, and laboratory tests, interprets test results for deviation from normal and performs therapeutic procedures when indicated.
- Develop and implement patient management plans, records progress notes and assists in provision of continuity of care.
- Prescribe pharmaceuticals, other medications, and treatment regimens as appropriate to assessed medical conditions and refers patients to specialists and relevant patient care components as appropriate.
- Instruct and counsel patients regarding compliance with prescribed therapeutic regimens. Communicates with patients regarding testing results, follow-up care and additional information.
- Communicate effectively and compassionately through audio visual consultations with patients and able to address patient concerns through these medias.
- Establish and coordinate exchange of relevant patient information within the guidelines of HIPPA with local healthcare organizations.
- Provide patient centric care counseling and supporting patients about making healthy lifestyle modifications taking into consideration their culture, family, and values.
- Responsible for providing patients a feeling of a safe environment so they can share their struggles, barriers, and accomplishments with obesity management.
- Educate patients on the risks and benefits of treatments ensuring the patient is a part of the decision-making process.
- Abide by all associated rules, regulations, and laws regarding collaborative practice requirements for each state licensed for telehealth.
- Participate in program enhancement, publishing literature, educational seminars, public speaking, and provide guidance on research study publications.
- Conduct case reviews and chart reviews when indicated.
- Perform administrative functions when necessary.
- Serve as a collaborating physician for advanced practice clinicians per state regulations.

- Solicit or respond to input on clinical initiatives and guidelines (e.g., providers, specialty societies, clinical experts)

What We’re Looking For
Required Qualifications
- Doctor of Medicine (MD or DO) degree with unrestricted medical license
- A minimum of 2 years’ clinical experience in family or internal medicine.
- Has a commitment to health equity and providing culturally relevant care.
- Willingness to learn and practice the treatment of medical weight loss.
- Ability to use telemedicine hardware and software to deliver care for medical weight loss when indicated.
- Ability to learn computer software programs and enter and maintain accurate data and statistical information in order to consistently prepare clear and concise reports, correspondence and other written materials.
- Knowledge of the principles and processes for providing customer and personal services. This includes customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services and evaluation of customer satisfaction.
- Pleasant interpersonal demeanor and ability to work with all levels of associates and leadership.
- Must be able to use manual dexterity in relation to clinical requirements.
- BLS certified and meet credentialing requirements.
- Ability to successfully qualify for and obtain unrestricted state licensure(s) throughout the defined platform is required.
- Valid prescriptive authority (per State practice requirements); ability to prescribe dosages and instruct patients in correct usage.
- Access to high-speed home internet that meets the minimum standards as defined by IT
Preferred Qualifications:
- Board certified in Obesity Medicine at the time of hire or within 18 months of hire
- Previous telemedicine experience.
- MO medical state license
- Prior experience in a obesity management or medical weight loss practice
- Experience in leading and developing teams
- Business experience in addition to a clinical background is a key attribute for success in this role
- Excellent presentation skills for both clinical and non-clinical audiences
- Experience in population health management
- Self-motivated and able to work with little direct supervision and drive results with disciplined follow-through
- Adaptable and flexible style of collaborating
Pursuant to various state Fair Pay Acts, below is a summary of compensation elements for this role at the company. The following benefits are provided by RVO Health, subject to eligibility requirements.
Starting Salary: $216,000.00 - $260,000.00
