Location: Role can remote working or Hybrid (if located within 25miles from a NECSWS office location within UK) depending on location.

We are looking for a passionate and experienced Software Product Owner to join our dynamic product team.

Product Owner is responsible for one or more components Evidence and Insights family of capabilities and solutions. Which includes Biometrics, Digital Evidence management, Digital interview recording, Mapping and many other Public Safety products.

Working with the Product Manager / Business lead as part of the NECSWS Public safety portfolio team, the product owner will help define the roadmap and strategy for components and capabilities that they are responsible for.

You will have a good grounding, experience and understanding of technology, either as a solution architect or product manager within an IT context. Ability to understand the principles of solution and data architecture of an enterprise scale platform; experience of contributing to growth through reuse of existing company capability and recombination of existing product functionality in new and innovative ways to meet future customer needs. An awareness of commercial and financial aspects of product development would be an advantage; and the preparation of prepare business cases.

A proven ability to communicate clearly and effectively non-technically with clients at both operational and senior levels, help define and refine functionality with business analysts; and engage at a technical level to internal development and implementation teams.

The Product Owner will be expected to contribute to bids and support pre-sales demonstrations and presentations relating to NPS products and services; the ability to communicate clearly both verbally and in writing, in clear and precise English, is therefore required.

Qualifications

Experience and knowledge of the UK Public Sector, and Criminal Justice area in particular, is desired but not essential.

Skills & Experience:

  • Proven experience as a Product Owner or similar role in product management in the SaaS or software sector.
  • Experience working with agile methodologies
  • Strong understanding of the software development lifecycle.
  • Excellent interpersonal, presentation, and communication skills.
  • Demonstrable ability to support the creation of sound product strategies and help to convert these into executable plans.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a focus on data-driven decision-making.
  • Familiarity with product management tools (e.g., Aha!).
  •  An understanding of the public safety market is preferable but not essential.

Key Responsibilities:

· Product Vision and Strategy: Assist in defining and managing the product vision, ensuring that it aligns with the overall company and product strategy.

· Stakeholder Collaboration: Work closely with stakeholders, sales, marketing and software development teams to gather, analyse and prioritise product requirements ensuring alignment and supporting new business opportunities. In addition, to the key role of working with and representing the customer.

· User Stories and Acceptance Criteria: Facilitate the decomposition of business requirements and produce Use Cases and User Stories with Acceptance Criteria that can be understood and acted upon by the software engineers to guide the development process. Guide the development team on what to build to maximise product value.

· Sprint Planning: Participate in sprint planning meetings, ensuring the team understands the product backlog and priorities.

· Product Roadmap: Assist in maintaining a product roadmap that outlines the product’s evolution, key milestones and backlog.

· Market Research: Assist with competitive analysis to help inform product decisions and identify opportunities for innovation

· Release Management: Coordinate product releases, ensuring timely delivery and communication with stakeholders.
