Job description
About Kojo
It’s time to build. Whether it’s creating more housing, upgrading our infrastructure, or adapting to climate change, one thing is clear: the construction industry is at the center of solving our biggest problems. We’re making buildings cheaper and easier to build by transforming the way commercial construction companies buy their materials. Join us.
Founded in 2018, Kojo is now one of the fastest-growing construction technology companies in the world. Construction accounts for $10 trillion in global spend annually and we can’t live without its output - our roads, schools, hospitals, and offices. Despite this, there’s been very little innovation over the past 70 years in how materials - which constitute up to 40% of project costs - are bought and sold. This is our opportunity.
We’re looking for a Quality Engineering Manager to lead the QA function at Kojo. This is a rare opportunity to iterate on the existing systems, team, and culture that will define quality for years to come.
You’ll report to our Director of Engineering and lead a team of three QA Engineers (with potential to grow). You’ll serve as both a hands-on contributor and a strategic leader—driving the evolution of our testing infrastructure while coaching your team and embedding a deep sense of customer empathy into every stage of development.
About the Role:
This is a high-impact role for someone who thrives at the intersection of product quality, technical leadership, and team development. You’ll be responsible for introducing automation, establishing scalable QA processes, and making quality a shared responsibility across our engineering teams.
You will:
Manage, coach, and grow a team of 3+ QA Engineers, including hiring, onboarding, performance management, and team development
Champion a shift-left approach to quality—bringing customer behavior, expectations, and testability into early design and planning discussions
Design and implement a scalable automated regression testing framework to reduce reliance on manual testing over time
Act as a player-coach: contributing technically while empowering your team to take ownership of day-to-day execution
Balance immediate QA needs with longer-term strategic improvements—prioritizing for impact while building sustainable systems
Partner with Engineering, Product, and Design to proactively identify risk and advocate for quality throughout the product lifecycle
Build and iterate on processes that support reliability, speed, and learning across the QA function
Lead triage for customer bugs and internal QA reports, surfacing patterns and driving improvements upstream
Manage up effectively—keeping key stakeholders informed, aligned, and engaged in QA priorities
About You:
You’re a systems thinker who gets energy from solving root problems and building durable solutions. You care deeply about your team’s growth and believe quality starts before the first line of code. You enjoy balancing short-term delivery with long-term technical excellence—and you’re excited to set the vision for quality at a high-growth company.
Qualifications:
Proven success in a QA leadership or management role, including experience hiring, onboarding, and managing performance
Strong foundation in QA methodologies and hands-on experience building automated test frameworks
Deep understanding of how customer behavior should inform quality strategies and test plans
Experience coaching and scaling teams in fast-paced, agile environments
Exceptional problem-solving skills and the ability to translate vague issues into structured solutions
Clear communication skills and the ability to align cross-functional stakeholders around quality goals
A technical background (degree or practical experience) in software development or testing
What you care about:
Customer Obsession: You care deeply about our customers and go the extra mile to delight them
Innovation: You are determined to transform the industry and you look for 10x solutions
Growth: You are excited by problems because they’re opportunities for improvement
