Job description
Sword Health is on a mission to free two billion people from pain.
With 67% of members achieving a pain-free life and a 70% reduction in surgery intent, at Sword, we are using AI Care to change lives, and save millions for our 25,000+ enterprise clients across three continents. Today, we hold the majority of industry patents, win 70% of competitive evaluations, and have raised more than $300 million from top venture firms like Founders Fund, Sapphire Ventures, General Catalyst, and Khosla Ventures.
Recognized as a Forbes Best Startup Employer in 2025, this award highlights our focus on being a destination for the best and brightest talent. Not only have we experienced unprecedented growth since our market debut in 2020, but we’ve also created a remarkable mission and value-driven environment that is loved by our growing team. With a recent valuation of $4 billion, we are in a phase of hyper growth and expansion, and we’re looking for individuals with passion, commitment, and energy to help us scale our global impact.
Joining Sword means committing to a set of core values, chief amongst them to “do it for the patients” every day, and to always “deliver more than expected” on behalf of our members and clients.
This is an opportunity for you to make a significant difference on a massive scale as you work alongside 1000+ (and growing!) talented colleagues, spanning three continents. Your charge? To help us build a pain-free world, powered by AI, enhanced by people — accessible to all.
The new initiative
We’re expanding our proven AI-driven care management technology, already battletested in-house and deployed across the United States, to tackle Portugal’s clinical workflow bottlenecks.
As Sales Executive, you’ll spearhead SaaS AI sales in a country whose hospitals are begging for relief from 30-hour emergency department queues, chronic staff shortages and some of Europe’s worst burnout rates. Succeed here and you’ll scale the playbook across the Continent as our future Head of EU Sales, reporting directly to a US-based GM who has extensive sales experience.
You’ll build Portugal’s pipeline from zero. Your job is to generate demand, identify opportunities and open doors that haven’t knocked on yet.
Think of this like operating in a seed-stage startup. There’s uncertainty, fast pivots, and a lot of chaos–but for the right person, that’s exactly the thrill. If you thrive in the unknown, move fast, and know how to build pipeline, this is the role for you.
What you’ll be doing:
- Sell enterprise SaaS, not devices or services – position our cloud-native AI workflow platform as a solution that cuts admin time and burnout across Portuguese healthcare providers.
- Own the full cycle—prospect, demo, negotiate and close €100k-€500k ARR deals with public (SNS) and private healthcare groups.
- Design and execute the GTM for Portugal – craft local messaging, price points and channel tactics that resonate across all healthcare settings (hospitals first, but others are possible too if you see an opening).
- Create demand from scratch – build a €5 m pipeline through outbound, account-based marketing, partner referrals and thought-leadership at events.
- Navigate complex, multi-stakeholder deals – align clinical, IT, InfoSec and procurement leaders.
- Feed product and market intel back– become the voice of the Portuguese customer, informing roadmap priorities and future EU launches as AI adoption in healthcare accelerates.
- Report directly to the General Manager, shadowing a seasoned closer who will coach you on EU expansion.
What you need to have:
- At least 5 years of sales experience selling into Portuguese healthcare;
- Experience selling SaaS, AI or data products;
- Proven track record with obtaining/exceeding annual quotas for net new revenue;
- Fluency in Portuguese; good in English
- Strong independent accountability showcasing follow-up and follow-through skills;
- Ability to clearly communicate the value proposition and differentiators in an extremely competitive and fast-paced environment;
- Ability to navigate complex deals with multiple stakeholders;
- Ability to generate a pipeline from your own efforts;
- Self-driven, motivated, inspiring, and entrepreneurial; ability to own outcomes and make things happen;
- Strong communicator with excellent relationship-building skills;
- Proficiencies in Google Suite, Salesforce, and other industry-related software.
What we would love to see:
- A builder’s mindset,you thrive in uncharted territory and turn ambiguity into action;
- Start-up scar tissue; you’re comfortable iterating offers weekly as we chase product-market fit in Portugal;
- Prior EU health-tech sales experience or a rolodex that stretches into Spain, France, Germany or the UK;
- Track recording closing technology deals above €1 m ARR under framework agreements.
€95,787 - €150,523 a year
These compensation bands are just the starting point. Once someone joins and proves they’re outlier talent, we adjust quickly to ensure their compensation aligns with their impact.
