Job description

We Breathe Life Into Data

At Komodo Health, our mission is to reduce the global burden of disease. And we believe that smarter use of data is essential to this mission. That’s why we built the Healthcare Map — the industry’s largest, most complete, precise view of the U.S. healthcare system — by combining de-identified, real-world patient data with innovative algorithms and decades of clinical experience. The Healthcare Map serves as our foundation for a powerful suite of software applications, helping us answer healthcare’s most complex questions for our partners. Across the healthcare ecosystem, we’re helping our clients unlock critical insights to track detailed patient behaviors and treatment patterns, identify gaps in care, address unmet patient needs, and reduce the global burden of disease.

As we pursue these goals, it remains essential to us that we stay grounded in our values: be awesome, seek growth, deliver “wow,” and enjoy the ride. At Komodo, you will be joining a team of ambitious, supportive Dragons with diverse backgrounds but a shared passion to deliver on our mission to reduce the burden of disease — and enjoy the journey along the way.

The Opportunity at Komodo Health

The EDW and Analytics Engineering team at Komodo builds and maintains the data warehouse infrastructure that powers the company’s analytics, reporting, and decision-making capabilities. The team ensures data is reliable, high-quality, and aligned with governance standards, enabling stakeholders to derive insights and drive impactful business outcomes. By optimizing data models and pipelines, the team plays a critical role in Komodo’s ability to scale and deliver value.

This role is focused on advancing the strategy and execution of Komodo’s Enterprise Data Warehouse (EDW) and analytics engineering initiatives. It plays a key role in evolving the EDW infrastructure to ensure it is performant, scalable, and aligned with business priorities. Beyond technical contributions, the role helps foster a culture of operational excellence, knowledge sharing, and continuous improvement. By bridging day-to-day engineering work with broader organizational goals, this position ensures that data solutions are both immediately impactful and built for long-term success.

Looking back on your first 12 months at Komodo Health, you will have…

  • Delivered robust, scalable data models and pipelines that support self-service analytics and downstream reporting.
  • Improved the reliability and performance of existing workflows in the Enterprise Data Warehouse (EDW).
  • Contributed to the development of data quality standards, metadata tagging, and governance practices.
  • Collaborated with cross-functional teams to translate business needs into actionable datasets and insights.
  • Helped optimize the EDW for query performance and cost efficiency across Snowflake and other tooling.

You will accomplish these outcomes through the following responsibilities…

  • Design, build, and maintain scalable ELT pipelines using dbt, Fivetran, and cloud-native tools.
  • Develop clean, reusable data models and transform raw data into accessible, trusted datasets.
  • Participate in code reviews, testing, and performance tuning to ensure reliability and maintainability.
  • Implement and contribute to governance practices, including tagging frameworks, data quality checks, and access control standards.
  • Troubleshoot data pipeline and warehouse issues across development and production environments.
  • Document workflows, data definitions, and architecture to ensure clarity and knowledge sharing.
  • Stay up to date on modern data engineering practices and bring forward recommendations to improve the platform.

What you bring to Komodo Health:

  • Proficiency with data modeling, ELT design, and analytics engineering best practices.
  • Hands-on experience with Snowflake, dbt, and Fivetran in a production environment.
  • Working knowledge of Python and SQL, with the ability to write clean, well-documented code.
  • Familiarity with version control and collaborative development tools like Git and GitHub.
  • Understanding of data governance principles including access management and quality assurance.
  • Curiosity and the ability to break down ambiguous problems into structured, solvable components.
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills with both technical and non-technical peers.
  • Commitment to writing maintainable, scalable, and cost-efficient code and pipelines.

Additional skills and experience we’d prioritize (nice to have)…

  • Experience with Snowflake, Fivetran, dbt, Temporal, Airflow
