About the Role: As the Senior Director of Product Design, you will lead and inspire multiple divisions within Deel’s Product Design organization. Reporting directly to one of our Vice Presidents of Product, you will guide up to 5 Product Design divisions, overseeing a team of up to 6 Lead Product Designers and their direct reports. Your leadership will drive the strategy, architecture, and execution of Deel’s design initiatives, ensuring the success of our products and the growth of the design team.
Key Responsibilities:
Leadership and Strategy: Own the strategy, architecture, and accountability for the success of up to 5 Product Design divisions, each comprising multiple teams.
Team Management: Directly manage up to 6 Lead Product Designers, each leading teams of up to 7 Product Designers, while coaching and mentoring both leads and their teams.
Design Excellence: Conduct design reviews across all divisions, providing actionable feedback to ensure high-quality, cohesive, and innovative design solutions.
Frameworks and Systems: Create or update design frameworks and ensure alignment with Deel’s overall design system.
Hands-On Contribution: Step in to perform tactical or design work as needed to unblock teams and meet critical goals.
Problem Solving: Build industry-leading solutions to complex challenges in high-dependency environments.
Talent Development: Attract, engage, and retain top talent, fostering a culture of excellence and collaboration within the design team.
Team Growth: Play a pivotal role in building and scaling Deel’s world-class design team, redefining how people work across the globe.
Requirements:
Experience: Minimum of 2 years as a Product Design Director or equivalent role, with at least 6 years of prior experience as a hands-on Product Designer.
Leadership: Proven ability to lead and grow large design organizations in fast-paced environments (ideally at a scale-up or startup).
Collaboration: Strong understanding of Product, Design, and design systems, with the ability to collaborate across functions and teams effectively.
Adaptability: Willingness and ability to dive into hands-on design work when needed.
Communication: Exceptional leadership and communication skills, capable of managing multiple priorities and aligning diverse stakeholders.
Drive: Self-motivated, collaborative, and able to thrive in a dynamic, multitasking environment.
Location: Preferably based in EMEA or the Americas (ET timezone).
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience building and scaling design teams in high-growth, technology-driven companies.
A portfolio showcasing your impact on design systems, team growth, and innovative product solutions.
