Job description
Airbnb was born in 2007 when two hosts welcomed three guests to their San Francisco home, and has since grown to over 5 million hosts who have welcomed over 2 billion guest arrivals in almost every country across the globe. Every day, hosts offer unique stays and experiences that make it possible for guests to connect with communities in a more authentic way.
The Community You Will Join:
Airbnb’s commitment to embracing 21st Century values propels us to take a groundbreaking approach to government regulation. Rather than resisting or evading regulations, we actively collaborate with community stakeholders to find innovative solutions. We are seeking a dynamic and visionary teammate who can leverage technology to scale this approach—not just for our company, but as a model for the entire tech industry.
The Difference You Will Make:
As a Senior Manager within the Policy team, you will play a pivotal role in scaling our global efforts. Joining the Policy Products team, you will be instrumental in shaping our policy conversations as we navigate over 180,000 jurisdictions worldwide.
In this role, you will have the unique opportunity to lead a high-impact team overseeing Airbnb’s government-facing product offerings—a vital resource shared with thousands of governments globally. You will collaborate cross-functionally to set the strategic direction for product innovation initiatives, working closely with our product teams to develop cutting-edge new products that solve complex policy challenges. Additionally, you will implement comprehensive training, reporting, and feedback programs, ensuring seamless and scalable collaboration between internal and external stakeholders.
This role offers a unique blend of strategic leadership, cross-functional collaboration, and the opportunity to make a substantial impact on Airbnb’s global policy and regulatory efforts. If you are a forward-thinking, results-oriented professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment, join us in shaping the future of policy and technology.
A Typical Day:
- Lead and support a small, high-impact team.
- Set the plan for what government-focused products Airbnb should build now and in the future, based on what governments will need and expect.
- Identify long-term regulatory trends and help Airbnb create tools that keep us prepared.
- Define practical solutions that can work for many cities or regions at once.
- Guide new product ideas from early planning through launch, making sure they meet the needs of both Airbnb and government partners.
- Work closely with teams across Airbnb to turn government requirements into real, useful products.
- Be a key contact for government partners, helping them use our products and answering their questions.
- Find ways to improve our work and make our team more effective.
- Teach our teams and partners how to use our tools and understand our processes.
- Travel as needed to meet with government partners and support important projects.
Your Expertise:
- People management experience: Ability to lead, inspire, and develop a high-performing team.
- At least seven years of experience in public policy, advocacy, government relations, marketing, or operations.
- Demonstrated experience in program or project management in fast-paced, complex environments, with a strong track record of delivering projects on time and within scope.
- Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal, capable of conveying complex ideas and influencing diverse stakeholders—including senior leadership and government officials.
- Experience working collaboratively across multiple functions, bridging teams such as Policy, Product, Legal, and Engineering, and aligning on shared objectives.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with a data-driven mindset for strategic decision-making and process optimization.
- Experience navigating and operating within regulatory or policy frameworks, with an understanding of the unique challenges in policy development and implementation.
- Acute attention to detail, organizational skills, and an ability to thrive in a fast-moving and sometimes ambiguous environment.
- Personal integrity aligned with Airbnb’s values and a commitment to diversity, inclusion, and belonging.
