Job description

HappyCo is a company where people can grow their careers and work with like minded people, with no egos or politics. HappyCo is values driven and offers a flexible, supportive culture. Join HappyCo and Make Work Happy!

At HappyCo (happy.co), we create intuitive solutions that simplify property management. We’re looking for a Senior Product Designer to help build innovative tools that enhance workflows in the U.S. residential multifamily industry.

About the Role

As a Senior Product Designer, you’ll lead the design of impactful, intuitive workflows that make life easier for property owners, managers, and maintenance professionals. You’ll own end-to-end design initiatives that solve real customer problems—working closely with product managers, engineers, and fellow designers to build polished, scalable experiences that deliver measurable impact.

This is a role for designers who thrive on autonomy and impact, love to collaborate, and bring a strong product mindset. You’ll help elevate our design culture, raise the bar on craft, and contribute directly to our product strategy.

What You’ll Do | Design Impact

  • Own a product area, identify UX opportunities, and champion design-led solutions.
  • Design and run user research and usability testing, and create processes that enable fast, continuous feedback loops to ensure our understanding of customers evolves in real time.
  • Design, iterate, and deliver flows, wireframes, mockups, and prototypes for development.
  • Translate complex problems into elegant and scalable solutions.
  • Apply systems thinking across interconnected product experiences.

What You’ll Do | Collaboration

  • Work closely with your product and engineering counterparts to define scope, align on trade-offs, and deliver high-quality outcomes.
  • Partner with cross-functional teams to ensure smooth implementation and thoughtful UX.
  • Contribute to roadmap and planning discussions by using research and data to guide priorities and advocate for high-quality, user-centered experiences.
  • Present your work clearly and compellingly to stakeholders and teammates.
  • Partner with Product Marketing and Brand Design to ensure solutions are market-ready and visually extendable for our marketing site and collateral.
  • Conduct or participate in user and customer/prospect interviews across time zones—occasionally during early morning hours—to uncover insights that inform product and UX strategy.

What You’ll Do | Craft & Culture

  • Contribute to and evolve our design system for consistency and scalability.
  • Actively participate in design critiques and feedback sessions, helping to raise the craft of the whole team.
  • Contribute to defining product success metrics and work with teams to build instrumentation (e.g. Gainsight) that helps monitor adoption and guide iteration.
  • Contribute to learning and training resources that help customers understand and adopt new features.

What You Bring | Desired:

  • A strong sense of curiosity and personal excellence—you hold yourself to high standards, strive to deeply understand problems, and calibrate effort based on impact and pace.
  • You may have 6–8+ years of experience, but we care more about the impact you’ve had than the time you’ve spent. If your portfolio shows strong product thinking, we’d love to hear from you.
  • A portfolio demonstrating elegant solutions to complex problems and clear evidence of strong product thinking.
  • Experience leading end-to-end design work—from discovery to delivery.
  • Comfort navigating ambiguity and driving clarity through research and exploration.
  • Willingness to work across time zones (Australia & North America), including occasional early hours to join customer calls, user interviews, or team meetings.
  • Fluency with modern design tools and processes (Figma, prototyping, systems design, etc.).

What You Bring | Even Better If

  • Demonstrated progression in scope and impact across product teams, especially within B2B or SaaS environments.
  • Experience with design engineering or front-end development practices—you might even enjoy coding yourself.
  • Background in property technology (PropTech) or other complex business domains.
  • Hands-on experience using AI-driven design tools (e.g. Lovable, Claude, Tempo, ChatGPT, v0, or similar) for prototyping, ideation, or workflow acceleration—not just familiarity.
  • Experience with product instrumentation and adoption analytics tools like Gainsight (or similar) and knowledge of how to apply these insights to guide design decisions.
