Who we are:
M-Files is the leading platform for knowledge work automation. With the M-Files platform, knowledge workers can find information faster, work smarter, and achieve more. M-Files features an innovative metadata-driven architecture, an embedded workflow engine, and advanced artificial intelligence. This enables customers to eliminate information chaos, improve process efficiency, and automate security and compliance.
We help knowledge workers to work smarter.
We offer a flexible work-from-anywhere policy. By joining M-Files, you will have the opportunity to contribute to our success and growth while advancing your own expertise. Our guiding principles “Make it happen,” “Help others,” and “Love customers” are reflected in our daily actions as a team.
Summary of the role:
As a Product Designer (based in Tampere/Helsinki), you are responsible for creating world-class solutions for M-Files’ products. In this role, you actively seek to understand M-Files’ Design DNA, strategic themes, key business drivers, and relevant user insights—and effectively translate them into impactful design solutions. You excel at articulating value propositions and justifying your design choices based on research, insights, trends, and best practices. Your designs will play a crucial role in enhancing the experience for users worldwide, driving customer satisfaction and business growth.
At M-Files, we follow a product trio model, consisting of a Product Manager, Designer, and Architect. Together, this trio guides the development efforts of their focus area by identifying the right opportunities and conceptualizing solutions that our customers will love and that are technically feasible.
Collaboration is key, and you thrive in a team environment. This is not a role where a lone-wolf approach will succeed. You engage in active dialogue with stakeholders to gain a comprehensive understanding of the concepts you work on.
What you will be doing:
Designing exceptional user experiences through visual probes, concept studies, and interactive prototypes using tools like Figma. We expect expert-level proficiency in Figma, including advanced use of auto-layout.
You’re also comfortable facilitating design sprints and workshops.
Contributing to and evolving our Design System and reusable patterns, ensuring consistency and scalability across products.
Exploring broader topics and value creation domains (e.g., “finding information,” “collaboration,” and “GenAI”) to inform future designs.
Working closely with Analysts, Researchers, Product Managers, Software Architects, and Developers to plan and conduct discovery and delivery work.
Helping shape the product vision and strategy by aligning design efforts with broader organizational goals and participating in strategic planning.
Presenting your design solutions and the rationale behind them to key stakeholders, and actively engaging with our Design Community through co-design sessions, design reviews, and more.
You should have at least five years of experience in software design.
Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) or complex B2B domain is considered a plus.
A strong portfolio demonstrating your design skills, problem-solving approach, and impact on user experience is essential.
Our Recruitment Process:
- Meeting with the Design Manager.
- Home assignment: We’ll ask you to present one of your portfolio projects, including a prototype. Focus on the process you followed, key learnings, goals, achievements, and areas where you might approach things differently. This is your chance to show us who you are as a designer. We also expect to see your skills in Figma.
- Meeting the team: Case presentation.
- Reference checks.
We are a global company with Finnish roots and with a product that we are very proud of! By joining M-Files, you will get the opportunity to contribute to our success and growth, while developing your own expertise. Our team is fun, and our solutions are changing the market! What We Offer:
