Job description

The AI startup Xayn develops Noxtua, Europe’s first sovereign Legal AI. Noxtua helps lawyers analyze and draft legal documents and research legal questions while being legally competent and compliant. Hosted in the EU, Noxtua meets high standards of confidentiality in handling client data, professional secrecy (e.g. Section 203 German Criminal Code, Section 43e German Federal Code for Lawyers), and European data protection. Noxtua is powered by specialized proprietary AI models. The models are trained with high-quality legal data provided by the Legal AI Alliance which the tech startup Xayn initiated with the international business law firm CMS. This makes Noxtua the secure, independent, and specialized European Legal AI.

The Berlin-based AI company Xayn was born out of research at Oxford University and Imperial College London by Dr Leif-Nissen Lundbæk and Professor Michael Huth. Founded in 2017, Xayn’s academic vision remains, with a workforce comprised of approx. 30% PhDs. The startup has received investment funding of 19.5 million EURO from Global Brain Corporation, KDDI Open Innovation Fund, Earlybird, and Dominik Schiener.

Mission & Vision

As a Senior Product Owner (m/f/d) at Xayn, you will take end-to-end ownership of one of our cross-functional product teams. You will be responsible for the entire product development lifecycle – from discovery to delivery – and will work closely with engineers, designers, and stakeholders to ensure alignment, prioritization, and a focus on delivering value to our users.

Your Team

You will be part of one of our two cross-functional product teams, collaborating closely with engineers and product designers. The team consists of 6-7 developers, a product owner, and a designer.

Your Hiring Manager

You will report to Ruth, Chief Product Officer at Xayn, who leads the product and design strategy for Noxtua, our Legal AI solution. With extensive experience in product management and user-centric design, Ruth is passionate about creating intuitive and impactful digital products. She fosters a collaborative and agile work environment, ensuring that design, engineering, and product teams work seamlessly together. Ruth values user feedback, accessibility, and innovation, making her a strong advocate for human-centered AI solutions.

Your Responsibilities

  • Own and lead the full product lifecycle for your product area — from vision to roadmap execution.

  • Balance the four key product risks — value, usability, feasibility, and business viability — when making decisions and setting priorities.

  • Manage and maintain the product backlog, write and refine user stories, and drive sprint planning with your team.

  • Translate user needs and stakeholder input into actionable, validated product initiatives.

  • Manage stakeholder relationships by understanding their needs, aligning on priorities, and keeping them informed about progress and product developments.

  • Utilize product analytics and user feedback to inform product decisions and measure success.

  • Collaborate cross-functionally with engineers, designers, legal experts, and leadership to ensure successful delivery.

  • Drive usability and adoption by conducting user testing, iterating on feedback, and supporting go-to-market strategies.

  • Analyze the market and competitive landscape to inform product positioning and maintain long-term competitiveness.

  • Champion Legal AI innovation by integrating legal domain expertise into product development.

  • 5+ years of experience as a Product Owner, ideally in B2B SaaS or legal tech environments

  • Proven experience launching and growing complex software products from the ground up

  • Solid understanding of agile methodologies and enthusiasm for iterative product development

  • Strong communication skills with the ability to translate complex technical and legal concepts into intuitive product solutions

  • Strategic thinker with a user-centric mindset and a passion for great product experiences

  • Bachelor’s degree in Law, Computer Science, Business Administration, or a related field; advanced degrees are a plus

  • Working hours: Flexible working hours: Full-time (32- 40h/week).

  • Vacation: 26 days + December 24th & 31st off

  • Remote: 100% remote work possible (given a German residence), other countries upon request

  • Discounts: e.g. Urban Sports Club Membership

  • Equipment: Laptop (Lenovo or Mac), second screen, keyboard etc.
