We are looking for a Senior Software Engineer to join our App team! In this role you’ll collaborate with our product team, lead other engineers and contribute to create and maintain systems that enable our user’s most critical workflows through our web app.
Shipping & Handling responsibilities:
- Lead the design and delivery of end-to-end solutions spanning APIs, services, databases, and modern UIs
- Drive execution on multi-quarter goals, often coordinating with and mentoring 2–3 engineers
- Build and maintain robust, well-tested code, ensuring features are delivered reliably to production
- Develop reusable components and patterns that improve product consistency and scalability across teams
- Lead architectural discussions and contribute to technical strategy
- Partner closely with product and design to shape requirements, balance innovation with technical trade-offs, and advocate for customer value
- Provide technical leadership in planning and review, ensuring clarity, feasibility, and alignment
- Champion QA and test automation to strengthen quality and operational excellence
- Design and implement telemetry, metrics, and tools to analyze user behavior, system health, and business impact
- Drive iterative improvements, ensuring continuous delivery of value and reduction of technical debt
Requirements
- 7+ years of software development experience, with a strong track record of building and maintaining distributed systems
- Proficiency in JavaScript and TypeScript
- Deep experience with modern UI frameworks (React with hooks and context API) and libraries (Redux, Tanstack Query, MUI)
- Proficiency in server-side programming (Python, Go, Java, Ruby) and microservice frameworks (FastAPI, RESTful services)
- Strong knowledge of software design principles, OOP, and architectural patterns; ability to coach others on applying them
- Proficiency with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure) and containerization (Docker, Kubernetes).Expertise with integrating with APIs (REST, GraphQL, gRPC)
- Expertise with AWS/Cloud Services
- Demonstrated success leading technical projects end-to-end, including mentoring peers and unblocking others
- Skilled at debugging and optimizing full-stack applications for performance and scalability
- Strong cross-functional collaboration and communication skills; able to explain technical trade-offs to diverse audiences
- Passion for user-friendly, reliable applications with a focus on customer impact
- BS in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience).

- Hands-on experience with DevOps tooling (Docker, Terraform, CircleCI, New Relic, PagerDuty)
$156,000 - $212,000 a year
We believe compensation is a custom experience and are commited to fair and equitable compensation practices. The standard base pay range for this role is min is $156k to a max $212k annual salary. We tend to anchor our pay in the middle of this range ($185k). Since we are focused on hiring Shippos Everywhere, we have 2 US pay ranges, a standard compensation range for the majority of the US and a standard +1 compensation range for those who live in areas where the cost of labor is higher, such as NYC and California.
The actual base pay is dependent upon many factors, such as: financial budgets, work experience, training, transferable skills, business needs, and market value. The base pay salary ranges are subject to change and may be modified in the future. Total compensation for this role will include, equity, medical, dental, vision and other benefits noted in our Shippos “package” section.

Our people, much like the packages we help ship, are all over the world. This means, through our remote-first program, “Shippos Everywhere”, our roles can be based anywhere in the US with the exception of Delaware, Nevada, Ohio, Oregon, Hawaii, New Mexico and West Virginia and many roles can be based internationally.
