Software Engineer - Generative Media
Who we are
We are building the next-generation platform to empower creators with the tools they need to produce high-quality audio and video content, faster and more easily than ever before. Using cutting-edge AI, we’re reimagining how people record, generate, transcribe, edit, and mix spoken audio and video. This vision comes with unique challenges and requires solving complex technical problems at scale.
The Generative Media Team integrates first and third party generative models to let users create video without hitting “Record.” We own features like avatars, translation, image generation, and AI speech.
We are looking for a full-stack software engineer to accelerate our efforts on bringing bleeding-edge AI functionality into Descript.
What you’ll do:
- Own building and shipping new features across all levels of the stack (frontend and backend)
- Collaborate with product and design teams on crafting great user experiences
- Write high-quality testable code that’s functional, maintainable, and performant
- Dive into our editor code to improve existing AI integrations and add new ones
What you bring:
- Full-stack product engineer with proficient front-end skills
- Well versed in web development and associated devtools
- Technologies: Typescript, React, CSS, REST API development, relational dbs
- Comfortable walking off the beaten path, at the edge of systems
- Track record of working on complex surface areas
- Experienced with testing and debugging
- Shines at collaboration and communication
- Growth mindset
- Competent in thinking about security risks & mitigations
Nice to have:
- Experience integrating 3rd party services / APIs
- Experience working with AI models or APIs
- Excited about AI and keeps up with latest AI trends in the industry
The base salary range for this role is $180,000- $230,000/year. Final offer amounts will carefully consider multiple factors, including prior experience, expertise, location, and may vary from the amount above.
