Job description

Reddit is a community of communities. It’s built on shared interests, passion, and trust and is home to the most open and authentic conversations on the internet. With 100,000+ active communities and approximately 101M+ daily active unique visitors, Reddit is one of the internet’s largest sources of information. For more information, visit redditinc.com.

Reddit is entering a period of unprecedented innovation and growth—and there’s never been a more exciting time to join. The Ads Business Engineering team operates at the intersection of engineering, product, sales, and business development, delivering technical expertise and solutions that empower technology partners, agencies, and advertisers to seamlessly integrate with Reddit’s advertising platform. As a key member of this rapidly expanding team, you’ll have the opportunity to take meaningful ownership—driving cutting-edge AdTech integrations, launching and managing strategic partnership programs, and helping scale Reddit’s developer ecosystem.

At Reddit, a Business Engineer plays a critical role in driving the success of our advertising API products and platform integrations. This Staff-level role combines deep technical consulting with hands-on engineering, where you’ll guide strategic integrations, often contributing directly to implementation across Reddit’s stack or in the codebases of partners (or direct advertisers). You will be a key technical leader—trusted to own the end-to-end relationship with Reddit’s most important advertising partners, and shape the long-term strategy for how we integrate and grow with them.

You’ll work across engineering, product, sales, and business development teams to connect Reddit’s capabilities to the evolving needs of the market. You won’t just build solutions—you’ll architect them across systems, anticipate upcoming platform changes, and help define frameworks for scaling and repeatability. If you’re passionate about creating high-impact technical partnerships, influencing roadmaps, and building at the intersection of AdTech and developer experience, this is the role for you.

Responsibilities

  • Act as a trusted technical advisor and solutions architect for strategic partners (or direct advertisers), guiding them through the integration and adoption of Reddit’s advertising APIs and tools.
  • Design and prototype proof-of-concept solutions that accelerate technical enablement and create tangible value for partners (or direct advertisers). These builds may occur in Reddit’s systems or directly within the client’s or partner’s codebase.
  • Architect integration approaches that span multiple systems or product surfaces, and provide technical guidance to both internal and external engineering teams executing the implementation.
  • Collaborate directly with engineering teams at partner (or direct advertiser) organizations to optimize performance, address integration gaps, and troubleshoot complex issues.
  • Lead onboarding, testing, and pre-launch support to ensure a smooth and successful implementation experience.
  • Anticipate how upcoming product or industry changes could impact Reddit’s advertising ecosystem and prepare partners (or direct advertisers) accordingly.
  • Work cross-functionally with Reddit’s Product, Engineering, and Business Development teams to shape and execute go-to-market strategies for new features and partner-facing programs.
  • Represent the technical voice of the partner (or direct advertiser) internally, surfacing feedback and influencing product and platform priorities to improve outcomes for both sides.
  • Help define and evolve reusable technical patterns, documentation, and tooling that streamline future integrations and improve the overall developer experience.
  • Support escalations for complex or high-impact integrations and provide clear, actionable direction to resolve blockers quickly and sustainably.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field—or equivalent practical experience.
  • 7+ years of software development experience, with a strong track record of owning end-to-end technical projects, including cross-org coordination.
  • Demonstrated experience architecting solutions that span systems or teams, ideally in advertising, data platforms, or large-scale integrations.
  • Hands-on coding expertise in one or more modern programming languages (e.g., Python, Java, JavaScript, Node.js), with a focus on backend or API development.
  • Proven ability to contribute directly to external integrations and prototype in partner environments.
  • Strong understanding of REST APIs, HTTP, OAuth2/OpenID Connect, and modern SDK patterns.
  • Effective communicator with experience presenting complex technical and business ideas to both internal leadership and external stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience leading or shaping technical strategy for high-value advertising or platform partners.
  • Deep understanding of the AdTech ecosystem and how Reddit’s platform aligns with industry trends and standards.
  • Experience navigating legal, privacy, and compliance topics in partner-facing technology.
  • Ability to influence product roadmaps and drive GTM alignment across sales, product, and engineering.
  • Contributions to developer experience through tooling, documentation, or ecosystem standards.
  • Familiarity with scalable systems architecture, enterprise SaaS integrations, or cloud infrastructure (e.g., PaaS/IaaS).
  • Comfortable handling ambiguity and balancing short-term partner needs with long-term platform goals.
  • Ads Industry & Ads Partnerships expertise.

Benefits:

  • Comprehensive Healthcare Benefits
  • 401k Matching
  • Workspace benefits for your home office
  • Personal & Professional development funds
  • Family Planning Support
  • Flexible Vacation (please use them!) & Reddit Global Wellness Days
  • 4+ months paid Parental Leave
  • Paid Volunteer time off
