iDesign is seeking qualified Data Analytics Subject Matter Experts to help develop content for an introductory undergraduate program serving learners from high school dual credit to advanced undergraduate levels. SME assignments are contract positions that are part-time, temporary, and on an as-needed basis only. The SME is a remote project-based, 1099 contractor position. We are not able to guarantee any full-time positions as a SME. If your qualifications match our needs, we will contact you. The opening is for current project needs. Contractors must be located in one of the following time zones: Eastern, Central, Mountain, or Pacific.

What You’ll Do
As a Subject Matter Expert (SME) in Data Analytics, you will work collaboratively with others on designing learning content, assessments, and other additional resources as needed, including using Open Educational Resources (OERs). You may work closely with several team members, including Instructional Designers, E-Learning Technologists, Quality Reviewers, and Copy Editors to ensure that the design and development of online learning support the partner’s vision. You will also work with the Project Manager to inform them about issues that may impact course design and development and the project’s delivery. SME involvement in a project will vary based on the workload and your availability.
The successful candidate will work remotely on a contract basis.
You will:
- Collaborate with Instructional Designers to create high-quality online courses grounded in research-based best practices for online learning.
- Design and/or review instructional content to ensure alignment with provided learning objectives and suitability for dual-credit high school students to undergraduate learners.
- Develop practical learning activities and assessments that reflect real-world applications of data analytics.
- Recommend and validate using low-cost or open-source tools and instructional materials like Excel, SQL, Tableau, and Power BI.
- Partner with the Lead Instructional Designer and Project Managers to ensure project timelines are met throughout the design and development process.
- Participate in regular project check-ins and consistently deliver assigned work on schedule.
What You Need to Get the Job Done
- Bachelor’s degree required; master’s degree in data analytics, statistics, information systems, or a related field preferred. Equivalent experience also considered.
- At least 3 years of professional experience or teaching in data analytics or data visualization.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Excel, SQL, Tableau, and Power BI tools.
- Experience designing and developing online learning content with the ability to make complex data concepts accessible to early learners, including dual-credit high school students.
- Demonstrated ability to take ownership of assigned tasks and see projects through to completion.
- Proficiency in collaborative tools such as Google Docs, Sheets, and Drive.
- Ability to design and develop high-quality learning content, assessments, and modules based on specific project guidelines.
- Available to meet regularly during the week with an Instructional Designer (ID) during the design and development stages.
- Ability to work independently between working meetings with ID and complete action items as identified throughout the process.
