Overview

We are seeking a visionary and collaborative Vice President of Engineering to lead and expand our engineering services within our solutions-oriented digital experience consulting offerings. This role is pivotal in shaping a scalable engineering organization within a consulting environment, focusing on talent strategy, delivery excellence, client-focused engineering execution, stakeholder management, and fostering trusted client relationships. The VP of Engineering will ensure that our engineering capabilities are world-class, support business growth, and consistently deliver exceptional results.

Key Responsibilities

  • Strategic Growth of Engineering Services:

    • Champion the development of a forward-thinking engineering organization that anticipates industry disruptions, embraces cutting-edge technology trends, and evolves to meet emerging client needs.
    • Partner with executive leadership to expand into new technical domains, enabling a solutions-oriented consulting model that drives measurable client outcomes.
    • Effectively partner with leaders from other disciplines to craft holistic solutions, ensuring alignment with the company’s solutions-oriented approach and Engineering’s seamless integration.
    • Constantly learn from client engagements to refine the engineering teams capabilities to ensure alignment with program objectives.
  • Client-Focused Engineering Execution:

    • Lead engineering teams to deliver solutions that are precisely aligned with client objectives, ensuring measurable business outcomes while consistently maintaining a high bar of engineering excellence.
    • Develop and maintain a deep understanding of client industries, challenges, and goals to tailor engineering approaches for max impact.
    • Oversee the application of best practices in engineering execution, ensuring performance, scalability, reliability, and innovation.
    • Partner with delivery teams to ensure Engineering teams effectively and efficiently collaborate as part of cross-functional teams.
  • Client and Stakeholder Engagement:

    • Act as a senior technical advisor and partner to high-ranking engineering executives at client organizations, fostering trust and long-term relationships.
    • Support business development efforts by participating in key client discussions, proposals, and strategic pitches for engineering-led consulting engagements.
    • Act as a key point of contact for clients, ensuring engineering excellence aligns with client expectations and business outcomes whileidentifying opportunities to expand client engagements and demonstrating VGV’s value proposition.
    • Collaborate with internal stakeholders, including other executives, to define and deliver engineering-heavy consulting engagements.
  • Brand & Market Leadership:

    • Drive market credibility and trust through clear, compelling communication of engineering concepts and value propositions in sales and marketing efforts.
    • Represent VGV’s engineering capabilities at industry events, conferences, and client pitches, positioning the company as a market leader.
    • Develop and inspire the Engineering team to be a strong vocal support of the VGV brand by creating and participating in marketing and public community development activities (e.g., online content, conference & meeting speaking engagements, community leadership, etc.)
  • Organizational Leadership:

    • Oversee a scalable, high performance team, ensuring alignment with company goals and client objectives.
    • Design and maintain an organizational structure that ensures clarity of roles and accountabilities while being flexible to achieve high scale.
    • Build a world-class engineering organization, recruiting top talent across specialties, and developing an exceptional leadership team.
    • Build a culture of excellence and innovation, with a focus on inclusion and psychological safety, enabling individuals to be empowered in a way that fosters high rates of performance, job satisfaction, and retention.
  • Team Growth & Development

    • Define and execute a scalable engineering talent strategy aligned with our consulting business mode; ensure a robust talent pipeline is developed and maintained to support long-term growth.
    • Oversee a talent development program that provides clear, level-specific performance expectations aligned with industry standards, along with paths for career progression.
  • Operational Excellence:

    • Ensure engineering services meets core business objectives, including revenue and margin goals for the discipline
    • Establish and refine processes, frameworks, and metrics to ensure consistent, high-quality engineering delivery.
    • Ensure the alignment of engineering services with client needs, timelines, and budgets; measure and learn from performance metrics and project outcomes
    • Ensure engineering services clearly and accurately scopes and plans activities underlying project work to meet client needs and company revenue and margin goals
    • Provide strategic context, direction, prioritization, and agency to Engineering leaders in a way that enhances and orients their unique leadership styles and technical skills to drive company growth.

Accountabilities

As the VP of Engineering, you will be Accountable for:

  • Engineering Revenue & As-Delivered Margin: Oversee Engineering involvement in the Pursuit and Project process as well as the economic structures of the team to ensure revenue and margin goals are met.
  • Engineering Strategy & Vision: Defining and executing a forward-looking engineering strategy that aligns with organizational goals and anticipates market trends.
  • Engineering Organization Growth: Scaling the engineering team and capabilities to meet evolving client needs, ensuring robust leadership and technical expertise.
  • Operational Excellence: Driving processes, frameworks, and standards to ensure high-quality, efficient delivery of engineering services.
  • Client Outcomes: Overseeing the engineering team’s alignment with client objectives, ensuring solutions meet business and technical needs.

Requirements

  • At least 15 years of professional engineering experience with at least 5 years in a senior engineering leadership role managing large, complex engineering teams and systems.
  • Experience delivering engineering services in a consulting or agency, especially with a track record of delivering exceptional client outcomes across diverse industries (mandatory).
  • Demonstrated success leading engineering organizations within enterprise environments, working with large, complex engineering stacks, and managing applications across multiple front-end platforms (mobile, web, etc.).
  • Deep experience in architecture, data, cloud, and system orchestration.
  • Experience in industries such as financial services, travel, hospitality, e-commerce, and/or entertainment.
  • Proven ability to scale engineering teams to meet growing demand, including hiring top talent, implementing leadership pipelines, and optimizing organizational structures for efficiency and high performance.
  • Experience defining and executing a forward-thinking engineering strategy, driving adoption of emerging technologies (e.g., multi-platform, cloud, data engineering, AI).
  • Strong ability to collaborate with executives, both internally and externally, to build trusted relationships and align engineering initiatives with business objectives. Experience and conform contributing to business development is essential.
  • Expertise working within cross-disciplinary teams (e.g., Strategy, Product Management, Design, QA, Program Management) to craft holistic, solutions-oriented outcomes for clients or internal stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated ability to implement processes, frameworks, and KPIs that deliver consistent, high-quality engineering execution, balancing technical innovation with revenue and margin goals.
  • A track record of contributing to industry thought leadership through conference speaking, white papers, or content development that establishes the company as a leader in engineering services.
  • Commitment to fostering an inclusive, innovative, and high-performing engineering culture, with a focus on psychological safety, career growth, and employee satisfaction.
  • A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field is required.
  • Master’s degree or equivalent experience (preferred).

VGV wants all employees to be supported in their personal and professional development, so we take a comprehensive approach to compensation and benefits. The initial annual base salary for this position is expected to range from $208k - $260k. We benchmark every role based on location and against comparable companies to ensure competitiveness; however, actual compensation is highly dependent on numerous factors such as location, experience, knowledge and skills, qualifications and other job-related factors.
