About 350.org

We are a non-profit organization founded in 2008, running grassroots campaigns worldwide to address the climate crisis. We aim to dismantle the fossil fuel industry and promote clean energy. We partner with communities most affected by climate change, organizing for energy solutions like distributed renewable energy.

Our strategy involves stopping fossil fuel projects and advocating for a world powered by solar and wind. We focus on empowering people, building resilient communities with local renewable energy, pushing governments and institutions to prioritize climate action, and keeping fossil fuels in the ground.

In our 15 years, we have mobilized people globally, helped shift investments away from the fossil fuel industry, and stopped various coal, oil, and gas projects and pipelines. Last year, we led or supported over 330 campaigns and events worldwide, involving more than 490 active local groups and training over 10,000 activists.

Our name, 350, refers to 350 parts per million (ppm) of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere. Scientists consider this the safe limit to avoid major climate change impacts; the current concentration is 425.40 ppm.
