At 3E, we help organizations around the world stay safe, compliant, and sustainable. By combining deep regulatory expertise with leading technology, we support customers in navigating complex global requirements with confidence.

We are looking for an Associate Manager, SDS Authoring to join our team in Sofia. This is a great opportunity for an experienced SDS authoring professional who is ready to take the next step in leadership, or for an early people manager who wants to stay close to the technical work while helping shape a growing local team.

This is a player-coach role, blending people leadership with hands-on authoring and process support. You will lead a team of Sofia-based specialists while contributing directly to the delivery of high-quality Safety Data Sheets (SDS) and broader regulatory documentation within our EHS Regulatory Documentation (ERD) services. As a local leader, you will support team development, navigate day-to-day team dynamics, and ensure strong collaboration with global colleagues and customers.

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys balancing people leadership, operational oversight, and technical expertise in a fast-moving, highly collaborative environment.

What You’ll Do

Lead and support a Sofia-based team

  • Manage, coach, and develop a team of ERD Authoring specialists based in Sofia
  • Hold regular 1:1s focused on workload, development, performance, and team support
  • Foster a collaborative, inclusive, and accountable team environment
  • Lead performance conversations, goal setting, reviews, and promotion recommendations
  • Support onboarding and ramp-up of new team members

Stay hands-on in authoring and technical delivery

  • Prepare and review complex Safety Data Sheets and related regulatory documentation using SAP EHS and related tools
  • Interpret supplier data to determine chemical composition and apply hazard classification across global regulatory frameworks
  • Evaluate products for marketability, global inventory, and dangerous goods transport requirements
  • Contribute to delivery quality, authoring consistency, and timely customer outcomes

Drive team effectiveness and operational excellence

  • Support resource allocation and capacity planning
  • Help balance workload and ensure timely, high-quality delivery across the team
  • Act as a first point of escalation for team and customer-related issues
  • Partner with delivery managers and cross-functional colleagues to address challenges and improve service

Improve processes and strengthen knowledge sharing

  • Contribute to authoring guidance, process documentation, and training materials
  • Identify process gaps and support scalable improvements
  • Help ensure established workflows and quality standards are followed
  • Support continuous improvement through audits, coaching, and knowledge sharing

Use technology with confidence and curiosity

  • Work within a highly system-based and data-rich authoring environment
  • Use tools, including AI-enabled solutions, responsibly to improve efficiency and quality
  • Bring an open mindset to new technologies, evolving workflows, and future platform changes

What Makes You a Great Fit

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in chemistry, toxicology, pharmacy, biologics, or another science-related field
  • Experience in SDS authoring, hazard communication, regulatory affairs, chemical safety, or a closely related area
  • Prior experience leading, mentoring, coaching, or coordinating the work of others, or readiness to step into a formal people management role
  • Strong understanding of chemical regulations and hazard communication frameworks such as GHS, EU CLP, and REACH
  • Strong analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills
  • Comfort working in complex systems and with detailed regulatory data
  • Fluency in English and Bulgarian
  • Ability to work effectively in a hybrid role with regular in-office presence in Sofia

Preferred

  • Experience with SAP EHS
  • Experience with other SDS authoring platforms such as 3E Generate, WERCS, Sphera, or Lisam
  • Familiarity with dangerous goods transportation regulations such as IATA, IMDG, or CFR
  • Familiarity with AI tools such as Microsoft Copilot or ChatGPT in professional workflows
