About Ad Hoc Labs (makers of Burner + Dialed)
Founded in 2012 by Will Carter and Greg Cohn, we develop mobile applications to make communication faster, easier, and more intuitive. Our apps help users control who contacts them, manage unwanted calls, organize contacts, and protect their privacy. We focus on telephony, privacy, and communication software.
Our main products are Burner, Firewall, and Dialed. Burner gives users a second phone number they can create, mute, or delete. People use it for privacy, screening calls, and managing unwanted calls and texts for things like dating or deliveries. It adds a privacy layer for texting and calling, letting users control information sharing and block robocalls and spam. Nearly 10 million people have downloaded the Burner app.
Firewall manages spam. It uses a whitelist to ensure only approved contacts can connect, blocking automated robocalls and SMS spam. Firewall also transcribes voicemails for missed calls. We are privately backed by investors including Venrock, Founder Collective, Miramar Digital Ventures, and TenOneTen.
Mission & Values
Our mission is to create apps that make phones better by making mobile communication faster, easier, and more intuitive. Our apps give users control over who can reach them and when. They connect users with important contacts, block unwanted communication, organize contacts, improve communication productivity, and protect identity and privacy. We are passionate about making sure real-time communications are socially aware and privacy-oriented.
Our values:
- Better together: We believe diverse experiences, opinions, and backgrounds help us design mobile tools for everyone. We aim to build a diverse and inclusive environment.
