Company Description

A Windows Support Engineer is required to provide second-level operational support within a large European infrastructure organization active in the energy sector. The consultant will ensure the stability, reliability, and performance of the Windows Server environment, supporting both day-to-day operations and troubleshooting activities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide second-level support for the Windows Server environment, handling incidents escalated from the helpdesk.
  • Perform day-to-day administration, maintenance, and troubleshooting of Windows Server platforms.
  • Diagnose and resolve hardware issues on server platforms.
  • Apply networking and security principles to ensure system integrity and secure operations.
  • Collaborate with internal teams across IT and operational departments.
  • Document technical procedures, fixes, and operational processes.
  • Support tasks in both business and industrial (OT) environments.

Qualifications

Required Technical Skills

Mandatory

  • Proven expertise with Windows Server 2016–2022.
  • Experience with server hardware (monitoring & troubleshooting).
  • Solid understanding of networking and security principles.

Strong Assets (Plus)

  • Experience with:
    • Active Directory
    • Microsoft Exchange
    • SCOM / SCCM
    • VMware vSphere ESX
    • PowerShell (advanced level is a strong advantage)
    • NetApp storage (L1–L2)
    • HPE ProLiant servers
    • Citrix environments
    • Monitoring tools (e.g., PRTG)
    • Anti-malware solutions such as Trend Micro, Scanmail, MailMarshal, or TMCM

Soft Skills & Other Requirements

  • Fluent in English and French or Dutch (spoken, written, and read).
  • Strong troubleshooting capabilities.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team.
  • Good planning and organizational skills; able to work under pressure and with strict deadlines.
  • Customer-oriented mindset.
  • Ability to quickly learn new tools and environments.
  • Able to write clear documentation and operational procedures.
  • Must possess a driver’s license, personal vehicle, and mobile phone.
  • Must demonstrate accountability and flexibility (not a strict 9-to-5 mindset).

Additional Information

  • Remote work is permitted according to internal policy.
  • Occasional travel may be required.
  • Candidates working in Belgium must hold:
    • A valid work permit, and
    • A valid residence permit.
  • Local contractual conditions may vary depending on purchase order origin.
